When I get my Japanese visa, I am moving to Tokyo to attend a prestigious High School to learn more about their magnificent culture. I hope I can become an animator for Studio Ghibli or a game designer!

I own several kimonos, which I wear around town. I want to get used to wearing them before I move to Japan, so I can fit in easier. I bow to my elders and seniors and speak Japanese as often as I can, but rarely does anyone manage to respond.

Risking the Price of Fame and Fortune
Every human being is tempted by something in life. Even Jesus was tempted. Temptation is all around us in many forms, waiting to strike at our vulnerable points. However, temptation is not in its original form evil, the actions we choose to take based on the temptations become sinful. In the film “Game Show”, the main character Charles Van Doren is tempted by film critics into lying and cheating. He falls into temptation and the repercussions become severe.

When we allow our emotions to cloud our judgment of the greater good meaning of life, we become prone to temptation and paths of deception.
Being a Christian man is simple. Be moral, honest, and contain integrity. Was Charles Van Doren an example of a “christian man”? The film answers this question through a progression of his life. Every human is tempted at some point or another to do evil and act further upon it. For Herb, he weak moral backbone caused him to succumb to the temptation and by result he was cast aside and forgotten. For Charlie, his greater education and understand of

morality combated the evil temptation that the tv producers bestowed upon him. However, when tempation realizes it is losing the battle, it steps up its game and really tests one's morality. This proved to challenging even for Charlie and so he too became a cheater and a liar. With the fame and fortune, he became “happy” and indulged himself in things he never would have imagined he would have. He was a scholar , an educated man, yet he fell into this deception act. This goes to show how no one, not even bright scholars, are impervious to the trickery of temptation. Because of his success he, Charlie became less focused on the important matters in life, like love, true happiness, family, honesty, integrity, the list goes on. Charlie lost his relationship with his father in a very deep way. His father was no fool, he was a true moral man. One line that

Mark Van Doren says that truly shows how easy it is to combat temptation is “just tell the truth”. It is that simple. Yet some people in society today have such a hard time facing the truth because of the reactions of others. However, in the long run, the opinions of others does not matter in one’s judgment. Truth is ultimate. No one can hide or run from the truth. Just as temptation can be masked to look appealing, so to can truth be masked to look “prettier”. However, that darkness behind the mask will always be there and telling the truth is a way of releasing the soul

of guilt. There is no such thing as a “white lie”. To not tell the truth is a lie, unless the person does not have a right to the information. In everyday Christian life we are faced with decisions. Do I cheat and copy my homework off someone else? Do I look over for one second to see that answer? Do I treat my family poorly or cheat them in order to gain something for myself? These are questions that ring in the minds of the everyday Christian man.
Being a Christian man is simple, one must just be honest, moral, and exemplify integrity. However no one, not even the good Christian man, is invincible. Temptation sits everywhere, waiting and welcoming our arrival. It is up to one’s own conscience to make the right decisions that will ensure happiness down the road. And if all else fails, the truth shall set you free.
