Extremely pleased with the product
first lobby i joined, talked and fished
A lot of amazing people around, spent like 3 hours in that lobby

Would highly recommend if you're looking for a relaxing, mood-boosting chatting game with a side of fishing!

Edit: The pixilation can be toggled off, i've heard its a turnoff for some people.

For a demo, geez. Kept me on my toes at literally every turn aside from the floors that where free fuel (not the ⚠️ floors. They're scary.) Found that it struck the perfect balance of for me - though i am quite squeamish)

I cannot recommend this demo enough, and will be eagerly awaiting the full game.

If you like a true "make it your own" game with slow, grindy, arbitrary pogression (blueprints locked behind levels) and an otherwise empty of POI (points of interest) world, this is the game for you.

There are no ruins or derelict ships or anything of that sort to explore (at least as far as i got.), nothing except just nature and a crawling progression system which locks blueprints in increments of 3-4 (like making a torch. Or a bow. Or a campfire) behind levelling up.

Unfortunately, i was expecting a more immediately engaging world with an experience at least somewhat tailored for solo play (and if not, more customisation to make the game less painful), but i did not get that, and so on the back of my rather short-lived experience with this game, i can not recommend it unless you like the above-stated.

This is not to mention the continous release of DLC while rather basic bugs are still present (like wood pieces falling through the ground. Or enemies attacking you from 7 ft away - dunno if this is a bug but it gets annoying very quickly)

FOREWORD: If you want a short summary, have this: "A tenuously-7/10 game which you should buy in discount, as the original price tag is too severe, being 24€."

FOREWORD 2 NOTE: I wrote a review earlier, back when i had barely 2 hours on the game. And to say i was treating it unjustly would be an understatement - not that the game is flawless.

The actual review

The good first:
  • Expansive world: The world is incredibly large, with many locations (semi-diverse) and lots of terrains and ruined ships to explore.
  • Number go up: While this positive is rather subjective, if you love games where content is kept behind a numbered progression (instead of an exploratory one) this is the game for you.
  • Lots of content: The game has a hell of a lot of things, while it lacks in the decorative department, it makes up for in the functional progression department - many tiers of items which leads to slow but steady base upgrades.

The mixed:
  • Power is global: I wont comment much on this. I just wished there was a toggle to change it.
  • No particularly unique artstyle: Again, its passable, but, it doesnt look like a visually distinct game.

Now the bad:
  • Overall: It does not feel like a 1.0 game. It is still very clunky and rough around the edges on the visual bugs (or bugs in general) - and with all the other issues i also losted below.
  • Clunky building: Building is at a strange blend of fixed distance and variable distance. It would be nice to have some kind of feature for nearing and distancing the constructing object relative to the player. Additionally, once inside, chests do not snap symmetrically on the floor; much like how living quarters will not snap symmetrically on foundation grids. (im sorry for the length of this, im a massive building nerd)
  • Rock bounding boxes: Sometimes, object appear to0 have collission boxes that do not properly allign (or approximately allign) with their verticies. This is especially prevalent in the starting area.
  • No exploratory progress: There is barely any e3xploratory progress or gamechanging items you can unlock that are not new minerals or the occasional gear upgrade. It hampers exploration in my opinion - and i think its significant enough to where i put it here on the bad list.

NOTE: Unfortunately i can not comment on story, as i have yet to engage in any of the available endings. Thyerefore, i wont take that into account in my opinion nor rating.

What many will mistake this as is a free to play game, it is not. It is Free To Try.
All the narrative, the story, and to some extent the content of the game, is locked behind a paywall. That is on top of all the cosmetic sales.

This is a free to try game, and i cant say its worth trying anymore. It *was* 2-3 years ago, it is not now.
