There's nothing like slamming a long silver bullet into a well-greased chamber

Even this early in development its incredibly fun and stuffed full of things to explore. Adore the fact that resources actually feel scarce and the environment is exactly as hostile as you'd expect it to be in what feels a lot like furry stalker.

the sim part of this is a downgrade in every way imaginable

rF2 is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ancient at this point but somehow it remains THE benchmark sim for automotive racing. The driving feel, the FFB, the modability is absolutely second to none and I wouldn't be surprised if its going to stay this way for years to come. If you are looking for a practically true to life simulation this is without a doubt the title that does it the best!

Unfortunately though after the MSG buyout and S397s small team being put to work on LeMans Ultimate the game has become nothing short of abandonware, occasional community mod releases and the rare (but existing) full lobby of official rookie races the only thing sort of keeping the title "alive"

Its a genuine shame but I understand. S397 is a small business with (at best) 5-7 actual employees. They can't maintain two games at the same time and its better to satisfy your publishers demands than to go bankrupt in an attempt to make the 200-ish players happy but it is a huge shame nonetheless.

In the end I can only say thank you, thank you for picking up and maintaining one of the most fun and exciting racing sims out there, thank you for saving me from wasting a fortune on iracing, thank you for getting my friends into simracing but after almost a year without even a single substantial update I cannot in good conscious recommend this title to anyone looking for a solid, polished experience.

rough around the edges doesn't even begin to describe this. Really not a fan of presentation and driving, feels a lot like weeb bait with just a bunch of unity store assets tacked on (probably isn't but it sure feels like it) Sound design is pretty fun though!

ESO but for people that prefer Fallout. A pretty fun experience with friends but its the absolute bare minimum of being a video game.... Especially for 40 bux

oh yeah also really REALLY awful PC controls and performance

I prefer the DOS2 combat but its still a lot of fun, definitely also improved by playing with friends

I wouldn't call this terrible and its engaging enough to waste about an hour or two in for sure but the lack of care by the developer to advance their (subscription based) product any further beyond slightly updated graphics meant that nowadays, its just lost its purpose in the gaming market...and the player numbers sure as hell reflect that.
