This is the best recording/streaming software by far, thanks for bringing it to steam!
hopefully steam cloud save is added soon so I don't have to lose my settings again...

Opera is no longer the main browser I use :Kolobok:

@BIZaGoten The purpose of having OBS on steam is for auto-updates.

Once they get the Linux version up, it can be quite helpful for folks on non-rolling-release distros which package out-of-date versions.

@Rocky Tallboa - I don't know, you tell me. 'Cause to me, it didn't really seem mocking.
More like a statement of fact.

@Luca "Kaiser" von Morgen I'm aware, but how is that relevant to anything? He said it in a mocking tone.

@FunkeymonkeyTTR - Pretty sure you know of it, but I just wanna share it in case you don't:
Opera is a pretty good browser, beats the other 3 I've used.

@Rocky Tallboa - He means ^^ has 10K+ games.

I never had problems with regular OBS but then I guess it's nice to have the steam version as an option incase you have problems :) Thanks for the answer.
I was really puzzled to see OBS on steam at first lol

Cloud save is unlikely, as the Steamworks SDK (required for cloud save) is not compatible with the GPLv2 license used by OBS.

Also contrary to popular belief steam isn't required to run a lot of software, so don't think you're being forced into having steam running for it to work, you can simply enter the download folder and run or make a new shortcut of the .exe manually

now you can run the software without steam, steam will just do the updating.

with those things in mind I ask why wouldn't you take the steam version?

Windows breaks all the time and every reinstall I grow a little more tired and less willing to visit 30-40 sites to get all my shit back, I personally have begun replacing as much software as possible with steam alternatives or portable software versions (portable allows you to copy the entire folder around without installers) to make life as easy as possible.

Next time I have to reinstall windows I just need to grab a GOOD browser, install steam then shift click a list in my library to get my system into a usable state very quickly. Triple ping sorry, fixing typos

Thats my reason, I'm sure others peoples have different ones :csdsmile:
