Marvel vs. Capcom is a franchise near and dear to my heart, and it's a shame to see that Capcom doesn't seem to care about making quality fighters anymore.

See, I agree with the majority of people that the game plays absolutely amazing. It feels like a Marvel title, and that's great. Sure, the combos feel the exact same as UMvC3, (i.e. Frank still can juggle with L Tools of Survival, etc.) but seeing certain strings be carried over is normal. Old characters get some flashy new tricks that make them fresh and new for veteran players, such as Cap's "Trick Shield" or Frank's new, uh... tripod move thing. It feels anything but stale when you get into the action.

The problem comes in from everything else. The incorporation of Denuvo slows down the online, even though my machine is more than enough to handle the game at max settings. (EDIT: I don't have any concrete evidence that this is Denuvo's causing, but I couldn't help but suspect it due to the aforementioned fact that my machine CAN handle Infinite. Upon playing a bit more, I did come across some solid matches. Disregard this point!) The presentation is bland compared to 3's dynamic, comic book artstyle. This game goes for a more realistic, MCU sort of artstyle and I don't feel like it works. Capcom's warriors blended in much more naturally to UMvC3's comic colors than Infinite's dull, bland palette. As a result, the game feels lifeless and uninspired.

The roster has already been known for controversy, so I won't dwell on it too long, but it's as bad as people have made it out to be. Fan favorite Capcom characters such as Phoenix Wright, Wesker and Akuma have been cut while characters such as Firebrand stay in. X-Men have also seemed to vanish, but I assume some silly DLC package will have them down the line.

The music in this game is all generic techno, "wub wub" renditions of iconic MvC music. Not much more to say than it's hella generic. Simple as that. As for the rest of the sound aspect, you can tell that the voice actors for this game don't really feel enthused about their roles. What makes this jarring to me is that the talent behind this game is good--Frank West's original voice actor is in this game, and hearing TJ back after all these years just reminds me how much better DR4 would have been with him. TJ even does a good job, all things considered. But other characters--most notably, characters like Captain America and Dante, just feel like they couldn't care less about the project.

I can't recommend Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite in its current state. It doesn't have that same luster that Ultimate had. I remember all those years ago getting so hyped for every MvC3 reveal; Viewtiful Joe? Dante? X-23? Phoenix Wright!? It was the hype train to end all hype trains, but now with only around 5 or so new characters added in this iteration while half of the UMvC3 roster was cut, including 3 of the 4 characters just mentioned, it doesn't feel as hype as it used to. This just feels like a generic roster with lackluster sound and art. Wait for this one to go on sale, if nothing else.

47 comments of people arguing with the reviewer LMFAO. If you all love the game so much then why aren't you playing it, instead of trolling negative reviews? Bunch of dev dic riders =D

Why am i here? To see why anybody would be playing a fighting game in 2017 as if it were 1993... i think you're all idiots.

so, there isn't really a point, apart from arbitriary bias like->

X-23 can hope to not make me puke, leave alone interested or curious
infinite definitely doesn't need more useless character that the world can do better without

My main point with X-23 and characters along those lines was that it was the kind of reveal you didn't expect and got you curious. In my opinion, Infinite needed more of that. Sure, we got X and Jedah, but not much besides that. I'm not including Monster Hunter in that list as that character is DLC, and wasn't announced at the time of my review.

@Blackdeth Lol, you again, the same guy who enjoys criticizing the game when he doesn't even OWN the game to begin with.

Btw, I may not own the game on PC, but I do have it on the PS4.
