The final scene is a perfect summary of the film and of the man on Earth: as in the legend of Icarus, the journey of man through the spaceship that is later destroyed can be interpreted as a metaphor of Icarus going straight to the sun and falling in the attempt, after their wax wings melt. The human being who believes himself indestructible perishes before a nature from which he believes himself exempt: his own.
