really cool game, price feels a bit steep though imho. i don't regret paying for it, but it can be hard to convince others to get it considering how odd of a game it is, which is an issue since this game is so heavy on team and squad play

strong contender for buggiest game i've ever played

as with a lot of the relatively considered good games from this publisher, PlayWay, it's a nice concept with gameplay that is so close to being good. and then it's an actual dumpster fire.
it's overall janky as hell, i was encountering several bugs in the tutorial
the game would be tolerable, even fun if it had any modding scene to fix the glitches, which it unfortunately doesn't afaik

a lot of the positive reviews for this game come down to meme reviews when you look at them, which has gotta be why this game got anything above mixed. if you're looking for an actual simulation of cooking or working as a chef, look somewhere else, PlayWay is NOTORIOUS for putting out poorly made simulator game after poorly made simulator game. i've played a few, and even the diamonds in the rough are just that. very rough.

in the end, i'll be keeping an eye on the developers for future products, cause the concept behind it is much better than the other PlayWay titles i've played (and enjoyed. somewhat.), and their upcoming game looks pretty cool, but i'm very willing to bet they just got screwed over by having this publisher

editing my review, was originally negative. leaving the original below for context, but this game is an acquired taste it feels like. the early game does kind of blow though, and it's a big reason why i just did not like this game for my first handful of hours, but it grew on me despite the flaws. if you get this game just be ready to put up with a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and jank, stacked on top of some pretty nice core gameplay.





i wanna love this game cause its a cool idea, and the gameplay is fun in theory, but in practice the game is just so game-breakingly buggy, nothing ever works the way the game tells you it will. a few of my main complaints bug wise are:
• autosave doesn't ever proc when i remember a loading screen saying it should save every time you leave your running car
• armed tenants apparently seeing me on a different floor, THROUGH the floor, and game-overing me for it
• on that note, tenants will notice things through walls in general, and this is by far my biggest complaint—i've even had neighboring apartments notice missing things with no connecting windows, doors, or ANYTHING
• this one might've been the first game, i'm not sure, but i distinctly remember one of these two games just straight up wiping all my save files at some point where i wasn't able to recover them, so i just had to restart or stop playing the game (i did the latter for months before coming back) if it was the first game and not this one, disregard this point. i'm not sure.

i've also got a few complaints about the game itself, not bug related
• the characters, the ones there are, are just SO unlikable. they all feel like the same thing but my biggest complaint of them is the madison st pawn shop guy, i dread walking into his store and hearing one of his obnoxious lines
• people will just notice you damn near instantly, you've got pretty much under a second to escape someone's line of sight, and you've gotta do it from a crouch walking position, cause if you get up and walk or sprint they're both going to detect you faster, and if you do manage to get away, now they're likely just going to bolt around the corner due to the sound you made (a lot of npcs are just stupid fast) and trigger the alarm anyway.
• hiding from the police is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring, you get into a hiding spot and as long as no one sees you enter it you are completely invisible, they wont check it or anything, ever. the game still feels like it's trying to build tension by keeping the music going and the cop(s) running around saying their lines while looking for you, but you'll be absolutely fine, BUT you're still going to have to wait like 5 minutes in that hiding spot being unable to move or look at menus or do anything at all while you wait for the heat to die down. it's just boring once you've realized you're safe.
• game seems to put a lot of emphasis on waiting for the right times to strike in general, but the only way you can really speed through time is if your car is parked in a very particular location (parking spots) and you're in it. then you can sleep. otherwise you're stuck waiting till the next hour mark hits while you hope the tenant moves to a safer location for you when that moment comes.

i've got more complaints that i just don't remember right now i'm sure, and i'd like to be a fan, but i just have so many issues trying to play through it that it gets tedious, and unfortunately there's no modding scene, meaning no community fixes to any of these issues.

This game has shaped me as a person, and plenty others, as i've grown up with it. It's my most played game ever, it still has a huge legacy and fanbase to the point it's downright sad to see the neglected state it's been left in.
I'm leaving this negative review despite how much I love this game due to the rampant bot crisis of the past few years, I miss being able to join casual and just relax 'n mess around. I would love to recommend this game, but you gotta have a high tolerance and love for it, to stick around anymore.
