I've been following this game's development since the start of 2021, and it has gone through SO MANY changes. It's really made a proper identity for itself, and is a really solid standalone for those looking for a game with surfing/source-like mechanics, but with a new take.

All the levels since have basically been completely remade, and are now very full and are one of the game's best features. There are only about 27 right now but each are full of detail and are each essentially equivalent to an average surf map in terms of length.

The worlds themselves have a nice serene atmosphere, sound effects are quite satisfying, and it's all backed with a chill, relaxing soundtrack. But don't let this fool you, the levels themselves aren't at all a pushover and later levels do demand a decent amount of precision movement.

My favourite feature is its ghost mechanic, where replays of other people's runs play alongside your live run. It really helps the game feel alive, even if you're playing by yourself, giving a similar feel of being in a community server without actually needing to be in one.

The dev is pretty active in their discord and responds to feedback often, things are looking pretty good for the game's development so I'd give it a try if precision fps movement is your thing!

I probably have like 8000 hours on this outside of steam, like this is just the single best piece of open-source software. It's free, it's enjoyable to use, I don't feel like I'm tearing my hair out every minute like I do with maya and 3DS max. This doesn't need my review, just use this if you want to do anything in 3D ever

If you're looking for *purely* old-school shooter gameplay that takes itself very seriously, then there are plenty of other options. This game is just FUN, and goofy and lighthearted and I think it's a refreshing take on the genre that's usually filled with gritty and grim aesthetics.

It reminded me of classic Ratchet n Clank/Jak and Daxter type platformers in their adventurous, cartoony world. Bears in Space is FILLED with detail and it's kind of overwhelming to think this was done with primarily just 3 devs. My only real criticisms are that perhaps it does *too* much humorous fluff if you're just interested in shooter gameplay, but it also has SO much variety that it's always entertaining. Also, there really doesn't feel like there are any stakes, storywise, and as much as the silliness is fun I'd appreciate if there was a bit more of a reason for everything that's happening.

Also pls add more steps to the sensitivity bar, it only goes by 0.5!
