Narborion Saga, a bad mobile port RPG.

I somehow still want to like this game, little bit, but here are the reasons why negative:

EDIT: devs promised to fix the bug in act II and fixed it!
Now it's more a NEUTRAL recommendation, but on steam it's not possible to do it. I think it's possible to change it later to positive, after all bug fixes etc.

The atmosphere is the best in this game!

Many bugs, some listed here:
- steam overlay not working properly
- characters are displaced in fights as it starts, like your companion is on right side of map and if you move he jumps to left side
- companion, which you gets in act I causes trouble later in act II: if you don't dimiss him, which is only possible in a text adventure and not on world map, then you will come to a point where he is on the row to fight and simply disappears, but you can't do anything, you can only crash to desktop
- wrong text messages which tells me that i need to delete save files to create new, even you have only 2 files
- blank pages of text narrative adventures/passages, crash to desktop is solution
- etc etc average and small bugs

Not optimized:
- save file system: dev team even tells on their site, save often, haha yeah if you save often you will experience a really drop in fps, to 2 fps sometimes, in-game not during saving and your game is starting to be slower and slower, i think they save it somehow in a big file, which grows with time
- enemies in act I start already to hit you 95% of time BUT you can't barely hit anyone, maybe like 30-40% of time you hit. With powerfull magic weapon +10 attack, which is the best i think in this game you get only 10 attack, the enemies have 25-30 attack value in act I already, in act II i saw alreay 50 attack and you are then like 20 maybe.

After 1 hour i switched off music, the same music all the time :-)

The most negative aspect: You CAN stuck in this game at many points!
- you don't have any magic points left and you need to cast a spell to progress, hopefully you had saved a game before, ok this one is acceptable (you can't rest/sleep cause you are inside a text passage)
- in act II: if you go to forest location with caves, orc village etc and don't save before this location, you are stuck to fight a huge army which you can't win without cheating, (btw you can't leave this location), BUT how you know it before? You are doing a lot of quests and fighting on this map and game forces you to delete older saves, you are ending with saves which are only on this locations, that means either you cheat to progress i guess or you start again the 15 hours adventure, nice!

I couldn't finish this game till now cause of the act II progress/stuck.

Overall this game feels like beta or early access.
The only positive i see is atmosphere.

At full price this game is not worth, discounted also not, in a bundle is ok, but don't expect that you can finish it.

Unclaimed World is lets say rudimentary simulation of colonization of an alien planet.

Sounds interesting but it's not. There are 3 tutorial scenarios and 3 other maps. That's it, you don't play a campaign, you play bunch of scenarios, some open ended some not. No real story, no really motivation for me to progress! Some scenarios start with small text windows, nothing else.

You start always like with ca. 2-8 citizens with either tech 1 or 2. The most important in this game is to satisfy your citizens. They need food, security and shelter. These are also rudimentary tech steps 1-4 in these categories. I saw no real advantage in food techs 3-4, security 4 and shelter 4. Sometimes you see citizens running on 4x speed from 1 point to another and you see no real progress in the given tasks, you ask yourself, wtf they are doing the whole day :-)



Pro:
- starts interesting
- 4x speed
- without achievements would be i think even more boring
- game is trying to introduce some sort of scenario in some maps, like some goals: make this amount of mudbricks etc

Contra:
- bugs: cursor is sometimes not chaning back to normal, loading a game sometimes not working, need to crash the game
- citizens are not eating normally sometimes
- if you have too many items on the ground fps rate drops down to 5 fps on 1060-80 graphic cards, not optimized
- no direct controls of citizens
- rudimentary tech tree
- extreme hard achievements, sometimes you need to restart the whole scenario
- interface is bad, almost all tasks are working on choosing an area, not directly showing the spot, tutorial shows only the basic stuff
- boring after some time, i mean what you want to find? An ancient civilization? Forget :-)



For 18,99 bucks the game simply lacks content and especially for achievement hunters: almost all achievements are extreme hard!

Odyssey - The Next Generation Science Game is a puzzle/adventure game in which you are solving astronomical and physical puzzles to progress further on an island.

You are trying to find out about or to save a family on this island. Starting with easy puzzles it gets harder with time, but you can always solve most of the puzzles with trial and error, even without reading the diary inside the game.

Pros:
- starts nice
- puzzles are ok
- you are following a linear path, for an adventure it's nice i think
- no crashes during the whole 2,4-2,8 hours gameplay

Cons:
- 14,99 full price or 9,99 on sale bucks for 2,4-2,8 hours of gameplay without solution guide is too less, sorry. You can even solve the whole game under 2 hours i think.
- End is horrible in my eyes, abrupt, only to find out that maybe there will be a 2nd island one day .
- Reading of 200 pages of diary, ok text has average size letters, but still.
- 1st pendulum puzzle in cave is dumb :-) you simply need to break the wall with axe, that's it . I was trying to figure out how to move them in right order etc, loosing time only.
- On trailer and pics island looks nice, but inside game it looks like an average game made with Unity engine, textures are not nice, for example check the door at the top of the mountain, the 2 side doors, where you can open only 1 door at same time.
- i don't really see anti-aliasing smoothing the lines in this game even you can switch it on and off, at least i don't see it on far distance objects, maybe it's FXAA only?


I can't recommend this game at full price. I understand, indie dev team etc but too less content for such price, sorry. There are no wonderful moments, like "wow" or something. Adventure games market is a high competetive market, and it can't simply compete with nice adventure games like Myst, Lost Horizon 1, Black Mirror etc.

I hope that "The Young Socratics" will make their 2nd game much more interesting, thrilling and longer, good luck for that goal!

Frozen State is action RPG survival game.

No spoilers to story, even there is not so much story, but you wake up in your hut/house which will be your base for the rest of the game, you can craft a lot of stuff for yourself and your home not so much.

You need to eat, drink, sleep and keep yourself warm. You can get different injuries like poisoning, bleeding etc.
Every day you need to go out on a big map with a lot of locations and search for new stuff, weapons etc.

It's a good game, but there is 1 negative point, it can get repetetive after some time, it's like some of assets were reused, means if you have seen one 3 floor house you have seen all 3 floor houses. I know, indie dev team, maybe would be better to design a game with lesser locations but more unique?

From the gameplay side this game is good, at least 1st half of the game but from the story/quest side it's not really.

EDIT: Feb. 2017: Devs are telling that achievements are fixed with a new beta patch, but if you load a savefile from older version, which works, and complete the last map, then you don't get them.

EDIT2: achievements with old savefiles are not working, so you need to start a new game.

EDIT3: seems, like achievements were fixed, 2016

EDIT4: Achievements are not fixed in 2018, still

EDIT5: I asked the dev if he can please fix the achievements and he deleted not working achievement, now is the path to a perfect game open!

Game is not bad, BUT at current state it's not possible to finish it !
The last location or quest appears but you can't choose it !

And also 2 achievements are broken.
Game is released since January 2016 and still not fixed.

The gameplay is boring, too less maps. Yes, it's early access, but that means also it should be in active developement.
If you show me a successfull developement of new maps, new content and attracting more human players, then i can tell you it's on the right way.

This game was sold already in 3 bundles, still the player numbers are from 5 to 30 daily only, not speaking about if they are really playing at the same time.

And to speak about bundles: all keys were invalidated and the dev is not explaining what happened, telling to ask the 3rd party only who is giving these keys. From whom is the 3rd party getting these keys, from the other dimension?

Also the dev/s deleted a topic in forum, where people were discussing about that problem and the tone of asking me why i didn't activate the key already as i bought the bundle and where i bought it, was not really friendly.

Yep, nice customer support.

Poor optimized game, bad customer support. Tragically i can't refund it.

This game will change your life, either in a good or bad direction!

This review is dedicated to my beloved human cells, which died during this 11 hour game.

Ok, so far i would give this game like 3/10. Cause it is below 5 i can give only negative recommendation.

Why?

Pros:
- cheap in a bundle
- nostalgy factor, lack of alternatives, if you played already all the other games like Grimrock

Cons:
- only 1 save slot
- no real hotkeys for quicksave for example or maybe they are hidden?
- what is the story?
- you can buy only 3-4 items inside a game shop/merchant
- warrior and rogue classes are crap and like babies, they can't even kill a rat, they miss all the time
- caster/cleric classes are the most important, caster kills all the enemies in the game with ease
- sometimes if you save in front of the lever and reload again, you can't move to nowhere cause you are diagonal (solution: cast a teleport to another level)
- after reload you can't move, you need first to click on character
- click, click, click fight: where is automatism?
- cr cr cr cr cr crap ending

Ok, i will stop here with cons!

Btw i finished this game.

If you have plenty of time and finished Grimrock and other RPG-games, then you should definitly buy his game and play it!

Totally crap game because of the crashes under Win 8 64-bit!

Would be a nice game, BUT it crashes from time to time. During the fight or during the cutscenes, doesn't matter.
The problem is that you can't save the game or maybe later in the story, but i didn't come so far. Maybe the savegames are chronicles, but as the game crashed everything was deleted and you need to start a new game!

So from my side i will watch "Let's play" and forget this game forever!

Edit: Windows 98 compatibility trick doesn't work, cause the game doesn't start with win 98 comp and as admin.
