MY.GAMES is malware

don't get me wrong, the game is good - better than wd2 and... the other pos rounding out the "franchise." here's the thing, i will always recommend against ubisoft. so, no i don't recommend you buy this until it's no longer in the ubisoft catalog.

apparently, according to steam cheevies, i drove a toon to beyond level 30... in 2011. where is it?

when there's too much wrong to write about, and not enough right to wring out of it, the only thing left... is to just say no. to leave it at that is difficult, there's a LOT to unpack here... but time is valuable and i've already spent too much of it on this. remember - just because something claims to be free, that doesn't mean it IS. nor does it mean that you want it.

it's a nightmare of an on-boarding experience. not worth the headache for me. by virtue of that alone i can't recommend it.

it's not a bad game, it's a decent one. it's just not an overwhelmingly good experience. i was disappointed in the total absence of balance in matchmaking - going up against levels 32 and 44 while at level 8, against adversaries with literally hundreds of ranked wins while having never even played a ranked game. and don't even try to suggest there's no advantage to having every card in your pool because everybody fields a deck of 30 because when 30 cards is all i have to choose from well, there's no choosing is there? on the other hand, when you have multiple hundreds of cards to build your 30 card deck with... you have a perfectly balanced game with no exploits. how depressing do you suppose that can be? don't worry tho - you can buy your way to the top in at least a few ways... they've got loot boxes for those afflicted with a gambling addiction, they'll rent you coveted title of VIP for those afflicted with affluenza, and for card collectors.,? they'll hook you up with single cards, tho there are STILL cards tucked away behind a paywall.

i don't run my monitors in portrait aspect. it's half-ass AF to not implement UIs that are familiar to users of the various platforms the software releases on. it screams out "YOU'LL TAKE WHAT TF I GIVE YOU NOW SIT TF DOWN AND SHUT TF UP..!"

AND - i could FEEL the cash shop bearing down on me as early as the second tutorial game.

it's not free to play, it's a free demo. there's a difference, and categorizing this as f2p is misleading.

... it pleases me.

pro tip: when you buy the blackwood edition be sure you do NOT buy the one all the way down the page nested in the DLC section. do NOT buy the DLC version, make sure you buy the blackwood edition that sits prominently at the TOP of the page, unless you already own the base game. i can see how somebody could load that one up into their cart, and i'd be pi55ed too if i did that i might even rage against the steam machine and make a lot of noise about it's bull5hit etc - even though i'd have only myself to blame.

as far as avatar chat goes, this is several rather large chatrooms, with games you can enjoy integrated into your chat experience. it's internet chat the way it was intended to be, i like it better than the palace and aol and compuserve combined.
