10/10 remake

Overall it takes all the best things about dead space and keeps them intact while fixing a lot of the issues and adding a lot more depth to the story.

Side quests add to the lore and ever increasing security clearance levels give you reasons to go back to previous areas and explore more, at risk of being further attacked by more necromorphs.

Occasional stutters happen but so far really havent caused my any considerable issues.

Sound design is gorgeous.

If you like horror you'd be a fool to skip this game.

Creators are more focused shoving MTX down our throats than fixing major game issues.

****I have added 40 hours to my playtime since I wrote this review, please note any edits.****
First I want to say that I am very much enjoying this game and will continue to play it. That being said though, this game has a lot of embarrassing problems that are in my opinion just totally unacceptable for a game of this scope. I am someone who plays a lot of betas and early access so buggy games dont bother me as much as others, but Im writing this review for the general population. I fully believe that after a few patches this game will be a 8 or 9 out of ten. When that time comes Ill change my review.

Pros:
1.) An absolute top notch map and world. The city is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BEAUTIFUL. Tons of variation in buildings and layout. They really did a great job making a city that wasn't just a bunch of various sized square buildings. In my opinion the depth, detail, and feel of the world very much encapsulates a dystopian cyberpunk city.
2.) While still needing some optimization, the game itself looks great, shadows are crisp, people look very realistic, the lighting at night is something to see with all the haze of the city glowing in all sorts of neon colors. I have a mid-range PC and am running the game on High with only a few adjustments.
3.) I like the gunplay, while not as good as some other games I enjoy the look and feel of the guns, they feel like they have weight and theres a good variety in types of weapons, mods, attachments, etc. ***edit*** I put most of my skill points in upgrading guns and holy hell you can become a badass just by upgrading your weapons and armors well.
4.) Audio design is good, good choices in music, guns, vehicles and other sound effects. Voice acting is really good in my opinion especially V's male voice actor. ***edit*** after playing all the way through severla main characters stories. I can say the voice acting is very well done.
5.) Story missions are a lot of fun, great set pieces and variety so far. ***edit*** After playing a LOT more missions I can say that story missions tend to be very in depth, with a split between combat/stealth based missions story building missions that focus on interactions and investigating. Side missions can either be simple (go here and kill these guys or steal this item) or in the case of the side characters like Panam or Judy, rather deep, emotional and complex. With stories that span multiple missions.
6.) Hacking is fun and adds a lot of variety to how you approach encounters, blind enemies, sabotage turrets, steal data, etc. While the actual hacking itself is very simplistic the ways you can use it are not.
7.) Cars handle so-so but motorcycles are really slick and agile once you practice a bit. I rarely fast travel and prefer to ride one of the 5 bikes I bought.
8.) Side characters are fleshed out well and don't feel as cheesy as many others games. I genuinely care about (most) of the NPC's. The romance options were handled well and the interactions actually felt pretty realistic, something most games fail to capture.
9.) There are a LOT of ways to customize your character and your build.
---Weapons of multiple types. Scopes, mods, Inherent abilities like shock and burn, upgrade weapons you like
---All clothes are armor and anything can be viable with upgrades, mods, inherent abilities like resistances.
---Level up 1 of 5 ability scores to increase different traits.
---Within those ability scores are several trees that you can add points in for additional bonuses and abilities.
---Cyberware adds tons of options to augment your body. And it can have mods and upgrades.

Cons:
1.) Piss poor AI, the worst in any recent AAA title. Enemies will just stand there and let you shoot them, they dont pursue you so you can beat almost every fight be hiding behind a crate and sniping from afar. Civilians have like 2 animations, walk and cower. Driving AI is worse than GTA3. Cars have ZERO ability to navigate obstacles and will just sit in the road forever. Police have no ability to chase you and just disappear if you walk a block away. (A GAME WITH COPS THAT HAVE HOVER TANKS AND DRONES CANT CHASE YOU?!??!!?)
2.) Cant change your hair or get any tattoos. Once you make your look at the start of the game the only customization you can do is clothing.
3.) THE PHONE. Obviously the phone makes sense to have, but its like every time I finish doing anything I suddenly start getting calls from 5 different people one right after another offering me jobs. So after every mission I have to spend 3 minutes listening to random people babble at me ***edit*** It seems that when you enter with a certain radius of a mission area it triggers the call to you for the mission. At the beginning you'll run into a lot of these prompting a lot of calls at the start of the game. After a time these calls will become much more reasonable in frequency.
4.) Physics are whack. I have been lucky and haven't had anything too bad. But sometimes ill randomly teleport 20 ft away when I go through a window, or my car will start flipping out. Enemies will die and their guns will hang in the air. Dead enemies will somehow still be rolling around on the ground. Cars are way bugger than motorcycles so I almost never use cars just bikes when I ride.
5.) Hacking is literally just point your scanner at a thing and choose which hack you wanna use.
6.) There is little to do outside of killing things, not a lot of side content like mini games. In a huge metropolis I expect to be able to have some entertainment around even if its just some gambling games. ***edit*** after playing more I will say that there are many story or investigation based missions that involve lots of personal choice and different possible endings. But still a lot of killing. But Im much more okay with the ratio after playing more.

Overall I think this game is simply unfinished, obviously in order to get the game out before the holidays, I expect many of these issues will be fixed later on like many AAA titles nowadays seem to do. If you wanna play this like a linear story based game I think you'll have a lot of fun here. But if you wanna play it like GTA where you can ♥♥♥♥ around doing lots of nothing you are going to be disappointed.

After spending my hard earned money on this game they add Denuvo malware cancer to my purchase. Uninstalled.

***EDIT*** They listened to the fans and removed Denuvo so I am changing my review to positive. This is one of the best shooters I have ever played. Hands down.

I cannot put this game down! I love the atmosphere and gloom. Combat is tight and fair. Lots of places to explore. One of the absolute best games that $15 could buy.
