Initial play through difficulty: Hardcore

When compared to it's extremely popular predecessor (RE7: Biohazard) RE: Village falls short in some areas but shines brighter in others. It is its own diamond in an already well established series.

Positives:
- The story is quite compelling and interesting to follow, Especially when paying attention to the documents and letters scattered across the world. Eliot becomes a lot more human during the prologue and end-game which helped a lot.
- Every character is unique, with their own quirks and personalities. I found myself in a bitter rivalry with the first main antagonist, Lady Dimitrescu. I experienced pitty on the bullied Moreau. And with Duke, I was excited to see him every time he appeared knowing his advice and stock would further my ability in the coming missions.
- THE ITEM SYSTEM! The item system is a massive improvement on the previous game. With the addition of upgradable weapons and the extended arsenal the game feels ever-changing in how I approach certain situations. For example, in the early game, when approaching a group of enemies I might panic switch to a pipe bomb for mass damage. But, late-game I would probably opt for the grenade launcher or upgraded
sniper rifle to tap their heads off one-by-one.
- Replayability (STORY) is something that I worried about with this game. But, i have decided that RE8 does this well (enough). The story is very replayable with the multitude of challenges. Personally, I had a lot of fun with the
Knives Out challenge and Dashing Dad challenge. Both were exciting. The latter brought out the mediocre speed-runner within me :).
- Visually this game is amazing. Even without all the fancy settings this game achieves a level of atmosphere that I don't think any other game has in the past. This has been achieved with the layers upon layers of dimension from the mountains in the distance foregrounded by the Dimitrescu castle, further foregrounded by the various elements of the village. All of this is brought together by the fine mist and perfect light that saturates the village. The most outstanding internal environment was (no surprise) the castle. Part of me wishes we spent more of the game inside the castle as this is where I had the most fun exploring every nook and cranny in hopes to find the next secret or valuable piece of ammo.
- Boss fights on HARDCORE offered a nice challenge while still maintaining the narrative flow that more casual players might look for in such a game. I enjoyed most of the boss fights to varying degrees (including the mini-bosses).

Negatives:
- Dialogue, at times, is very generic and comical at times with Ethan pointing out what is happening right in front of him. 'Why does everyone keep dying one me!'
- The only boss fight that I found a little monotonous was the Moreau fight. I get that his health pool is supposed to be BiG for such a big boy but the opportunities for crit damage (which is especially valuable on Hardcore and VOS) were few and far between. I feel an increased frequency of this window would help with this. But that's just me being picky.
- MERCENARIES is a bit poopoo. I was expecting to be able to unlock playable characters and possibly some entirely new arenas and weapons but this was not the case. We are stuck with little-old Ethan and the guns we know (one of which is pretty much useless after the first level). Other than that the game mode is a lil fun if you dont mind the lack of incentive to play other than the Ranks.

Summary:
RE8: Village is a brilliantly enjoyable game with a lot to offer and a lot of potential for further expansion. Don't go into the game expecting the constant nail biting tension of RE7 and you will fall in love like I did. It is its own monster and has made its mark in the RE universe, a pretty unique one at that.

Bugs can be fixed, don't worry.
The game is good if you enjoy looter-shooters (apart from a few cringey pieces of dialogue).
Enjoy :).

I'll start by saying, the original Dishonored is my favourite game.

Death of the Outsider is nowhere near as good as Dishonored (any of it's DLCs) or Dishonored 2. This is probably due to, in my opinion, how rushed the release was. The story (Especailly for such a big event) was a little flat but the level design still holds up an amazing experience.

The level design is amazing.
AI has been improved to be a lot more responsive and dynamic.
Graphics and art style brings the game to life in its own unique/ impressive way.
Voice acting is top notch quality. The range of different voices has been expanded to you aren't hearing the same guard groan over and over again.
Random encounters and side missions/ events add another dynamic to the games beauty in that your mind is always ticking over all the different options you can take, moulding the play through to the player, personally.
The volume of different paths you can choose to take has been greatly increased too. This adds to the games re-playability.

Yes, Dishonored 2 has had performance problems but, without a doubt (with the addition of the fact that Bethesda promised to fix these problems and proportionally have) makes up for in narrative and gameplay.

This game is art.
I have been playing it since release on both console and PC. Complex level design, beautiful architecture, amazing story and some of the most satisfying combat In video game history. This all adds up in Dishonored.
