Advertises online COOP and PVP as features, yet despite trying multiple times, was unable to host, connect, or get the multiplayer to function in anyway.

Doesn't even give error messages indicating why, or even that it fails to connect.

The game itself, is a glorified tech demo, an incredibly good one that I'd like to see build on more, but for the price, really isn't worth it. I'll be keeping an eye on this, but the negative review is because, if like me, you wanted a spaceship building game to play with friends, for now you should look elsewhere.

Having played this game since beta, I can now, safely say, go play League.

Least in League you won't be forced to play a gamemode you don't want to, as punishment for.. just not being very good at the game. I always preferred Dota due to the choice of champs, but, after a bunch of false reports I'm stuck in single pick draft, so it hasn't even got that going for it now.

I expected some fun pew pew, with token ship customization.

What I got was a fantastic sound track, a narrative more compelling and engaging than most AAA games, the most indepth ship customization I've seen in a shoot 'em up, RPG mechanics, abilities, loot, and an ocean of depth in what I thought would be a shallow time sink.

Even if you don't like shoot 'em ups, I'd reccomend giving this game a try.

Honestly a fantastic game that very much scratches that FTL itch, and in my opinion does a better job than FTL itself, adding more layers of complexity, and removing some of that RNG in favour of strategy, and actually managing to get me invested in the story.

I look forward to seeing what new ships, sectors, modules and features get added as it continues development, and the developers do seem heavily invested in their community, and communicating too which is fantastic.

As it is now, the game is already intensely fun, and balance patches are ongoing, so I'd whole heartedly recommend it.

Reasons you should get Rimworld (And mod the heck out of it):

-Accidentally removed my doctors "reproductive organs" now he has a wooden stick down there instead.
-Accidentally eatting human meat. (I still don't know where that came from)
-Forgetting to put a radiation suit on a colonist tending a nuclear reactor so he got lethal radiation exposure, and is now in cyrosleep until I can (hopefully) find a miracle cure, but his husband is sad because he can't sleep with him anymore.
-He was called Bear, and had a bushy beard. Sleep peacefully beautiful prince.
-Had a colonist pick a fight with the colonies pet dog population, and lose, and get ripped apart. Then eaten by said dogs. Karma.
-Laugh everytime a caravan collapses due to tiberium exposure outside my base. Free stuff.
-Laugh everytime a raid happens and they all collapse due to tiberium exposure outside my base. Free prisoners.
-Created two robo-commandos with bionic eyes, legs, arms, spines.
-They're husbands too.
-Force all my prisoners to work in my cave mines.
-Cut their legs off when they get annoyed and begin starting fires. That'll learn 'em.
-Sit back and enjoy seeing the colony running flawlessly, until someone gets chased into the tiberium fields by a mutant and collapses, so someone has to get up in the night to go rescue them after several limbs have already been bitten off, so my doctor has to also get up and fix them up, but now everyones been woken up in the middle of the night and is in a bad mood, and now they've had a mental break down and one of them is punching the pets, one is cutting themself, and the other is rambling insanely making everyone uncomfortable so they all break down too and next thing you know 2/3rds of the colony are in hospital and you're running out of food, steel, and now the prisoners are rioting.

10/10 everyone in my colony has anxiety now.

Use a controller.

I played this game for 3 hours, and was on the verge of looking for a refund if I could get one because mouse controls are just plain bad. Then I tried a controller, and sure enough, it made it so much easier.

The actual game I enjoy, I can see why people find it boring but I think it's quite relaxing, slow paced though. I will say it kinda runs like crap, which is weird considering it isn't a graphically astounding game, sure it looks asthetically pleasing but I shouldn't be getting FPS drops down to single digits.

I have been burned by early access. Developers that spurn their own customers, and games that become vapourware.

On that note, I've been in a chat room, actively chatting to the developers and other players over the weekend, having only bought it on Saturday. I've never seen a dev team more engrossed in their own player base, from helping people with crash problems, to taking on board suggestions, to talking about planned features, they're completely open. There are stable releases every few weeks, and (three times a day) experimental developer builds to keep folks sated. I can without a doubt say that this game is made with passion, and as such, I think it'll go far.

The game itself? In its current state, it is highly enjoyable as an exploration game. I'm rarely one to enjoy a purely scenic experience, but with the sound design and asthetics, more often than not, I found myself just buildng a base somewhere pretty and pressing my face to the glass. There isn't a huge amount to do at the moment, collect resources, build the mini-sub, and larger submarine, build a base (though without much to put in it yet), considering this only came out on steam 4 months ago though, it's coming along at break neck speeds, and is astoundingly polished already.

I was worried I'd spend 2 hours and experience everything and be done with it, now I'm having to pull myself away less I spend another 5 hours today swimming around petting carnivorous fish.
