This game is fun but it is ridiculously pay to win just by virtue of killer/survivor perks being locked behind licensed characters. New players have to purchase tons of DLC to even compete with the ones that have been playing for years.

It's silly to expect consumers to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of microtransactions in order to have access to every perk or to wait every week to pick from 4 perks out of 279. Either all licensed character perks should be purchasable at all times even if they're like 5000 shards each or the shrine of secrets needs to be MASSIVELY expanded in order to account for the sheer amount of chapter bloat.

Literally half of the negative reviews for this game are just from people that don't understand the story. It undeniably has problems, but I would honestly argue that it gets better the longer you sit with it

If you disregard the narrative not being as strong, this game has better gameplay, music, and art than the first. If you enjoyed Everhood 1, you'll enjoy this game - so long as you don't go into it expecting it to be "Everhood 2" in the traditional sense

Really good item balance changes!!! They did a great job of making bad items still useful (without being completely busted). The lil portal and mega bean reworks are especially awesome.

The online kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks though lmao. The input delay is crazy it feels like you're trudging through mud. hopefully it'll get fixed later but for now I can't see myself ever playing it to be honest. Modding being broken is also not a huge dealbreaker for me since I know most of the item descriptions by heart but I can imagine it'd be frustrating as a player that hasn't fully familiarized themselves with every trinket or unlock.

TL;DR: Item changes are very good but the online (main selling point) is incredibly buggy atm and a lot of things have been broken.

I cannot recommend this game in good conscience while it currently uses ♥♥♥♥♥♥ generative AI voices for the characters. I'll change this review once they get real voice talent but it's disappointing to see interesting character designs and backstories wasted on gen ai garbage
