one of the best spectacle fighters ever made.
the camera angles can suck sometimes and feels a bit janky. instead of a traditional third person camera floating above and behind your shoulder, the game's camera is mostly in the corner of a room or corridor. The fixed cameras can make it unnecessarily difficult to maintain spacial awareness. These games came out before good camera angles were invented. I am someone that likes a bit of jank in his games, if you cannot give up the modern luxury of good camera angles then this game may not be for you.
I never had a playstation growing up, but i did play the xbox 360 HD collection about 10 years after the original DMC3 came out. I don't think my enjoyment of the game is colored by nostalgia.

For the most part this is a very faithful reimagining of the original Half-Life. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the game's soundtrack. The music sounds too bombastic compared to the original and the squeals. But that is mostly a non issue. Very fun singleplayer FPS.

honestly I cannot tell you which of the 2 XCOM reboots are better, which means this game is an ideal sequal

I mean this with all of the hatred in my heart: the war system is absolute ass to the point where I do not play european or warmongering countries

Fun game, how ever it is lacking in good class variety. Currently there are only 4 class: the Preacher charges into combat, the Psycher pops heads with magic, the Ogren charges into combat, and the Veteran shoots guns. Naturally the Veteran is the least played class. Hopefully the devs will add new abilities for the classes.
The gameplay is solid, one of the only first person games with good melee combat where distance and melee range makes sense. The switch between melee and ranged fighting is smooth, the variety of enemies and special enemies is really good too.
The levels are semi-randomly generated, they are tile pieces that are assembled procedurally. Honestly I cannot say whether or not I prefer semi-random tiles over linear level design, which is a good thing. Are the levels repetitive? Yeah, that's what the game is, that's what Vermintide was. I find it incredibly hard to take complaints about the game being repetitive seriously when they are made by the same people that have hundreds of hours in Vermintide, a game with linear (therefore more repetitive) level design. If that's something you don't like, don't play the game.
Some people complain about the RNG loot, but that complaint is willingly ignoring the store that lets you buy any weapon you want (at the lowest rarity but there's another store that lets you upgrade the rarity of any weapon you have).
The music is good, the sound effects are good, the game does still run poorly but it has gotten much better since launch.
Monetization is a bit pricey for cosmetics, but they are all skins (no paying for better stats) so a bunch of complaints about it rings hollow. Don't like paying for skins? Just don't buy them.
Lastly I'd like to discuss one of the most common complaints about this game, as well as other games: "there's no incentive to play". This comes from people whose brains have been torn apart from skinner box progression trees and season passes, gamers that need levels to go up, need a number to go up, need loot stash to get larger. This is a low-brow form of "criticism", no one would say that there is no incentive to play half life, portal, left 4 dead, skyrim, bioshock, or any other game and be taken seriously. There is only one incentive to play any video game: to have fun.
