finished the game once already, getting ready for second playthrough.
i didnt know whether to cry or clap at the end, so i did both.

this game felt more like a movie than a game (except the combat, u really need some insane timing reflexes and tactics to beat enemies especially optional bosses). best soundtrack of the year (personally, of the decade, but okay). the way this game dethroned p5r as my favorite game is insane. the game makes me speedrun it but not in a bad way, im just ready to sit for 10 hours straight every day and explore and enjoy the story without stopping (rip my gamedev back).
the story is absolutely incredible, i can talk about it until tomorrow - how many tears were spilt, how many lessons were said in ~30 hour story, how the game combines both grief and beauty of life, oh my lord. some quotes made me pause the game and just think about the quote for minutes. characters are written so well, writing overall was definitely on point, you just cant hate a character or get bored from the story at any moment. it attaches to you from the start and doesnt let you go until the end.
i dont even want to start on the aesthetics. the game is absolutely beautiful. i felt like im in a museum, with all the visuals and music complimenting each other so well. the sceneries also felt like a moving painting (teamlab clair obscur version when?!).

to wrap it up, this game served everything ive ever looked for in a game. (j)rpgs are really back. gotta quote esquie, this experience has been Whoooooo, but also Wheeeeee. if you like cinematic, story-first (j)rpgs with a challenging timing-based combat twist, this one is for you.
