It seems nostalgia does go a long long long long way, either that, or people have toasters for computers. The community is toxic as hell, and the transition to free 2 play just made it worse. Sure the player base is split between Prime and Non-Prime accounts, but that means hackers ruin the games for those Non-Primed guys.
The game itself is crap. I don't care for nostalgia. It was good years ago, and by 2019's standards, it is below average. What kind of weapon has the same recoil always and everytime? Why are only 2-3 guns usable in high-level play? Why did they introduce only 3-4 weapons in, what, 6-7 years of updates? Why do they introduce a map per year? Sure, maps such as Dust2 or Inferno are iconic and all but, don't you think they get stale and boring after years and years of playing?
I'd rather not spend 1000 or 2000 hours of my time just because the way the gunplay is handled is poor.
If this game was released in 2019 with another name, I guarantee that nobody would play it.
In my honest opinion, the game is outdated. Any other shooter is better.
