Rain World is a great game, and it very quickly became one of my favorites of all time. It's a difficult game, you will die a lot and it's very easy to get lost when you're first starting out, but its positive traits far outweigh the frustration i felt when first getting my bearings, and i never felt the need to quit due to difficult combat or parkour.
The simple act of moving through the various rooms and screens is satisfying, and some of the movement tech that's possible if you dive deep enough into it is rather insane. There are tons of enemies but the combat is fun to learn and pull off, especially with some of the things the DLC adds, and blends really well with the movement.
Not only that, but the scenery is breathtaking. It's no AAA hyper-realism, but it doesn't have to be to really make you feel like you're in a different world, and tell you a story in the background of gameplay. The 2D pixel style graphics are super charming and the drawn image cutscenes are as well.
The story it tells takes a rather unique approach in the sense that the player isn't the main focus, rather, the player is an animal on the bottom of the food chain in a world of advanced machinery and civilizations, and you learn the overarching narrative through the eyes of this animal. Bits and pieces scattered around the various areas you visit, large intricate and confusing structures you must navigate simply to find food and rest, mentions of far off characters you never get to meet but are still critical to the story line, it all really makes you feel like a part of a larger world that you'll never truly understand.
Along with that, the enemies are like nothing i've ever seen. They are all unique not only in looks but in personality and how they behave, with procedural animation and in-depth AI, they don't seem like copy and pasted models like most other games, but rather real actual predators you're facing. Not to mention there's tons of variety in the things you'll see and face, it all ties together to make the world seem real.
All in all, Rain World is a beautiful game with charming graphics, memorable characters and world building, incredible AI and enemies, and is really fun to play once you've got the hang of it. I highly recommend this game for anyone looking for a memorable experience, and doesn't mind the early stages of learning how everything works.
Finally, I'd like to give personal praise to the developers of Rain World and the More Slug Cats team for their incredible work on the game and it's DLC. You did a great job, guys.

I backed this game on kickstarter in 2019, and while it took a while to get to me and seems very unpolished, it's charm far outweighs any complaints i have. The characters are likable and well designed, the animals are adorable, the gameplay is fun and i had a blast getting every achievement. My only gripes are that the forest spirit cat was hard to spot (the only thing i had to look at a guide for) and the general 'unfinished' feeling/bugs (which honestly made for some pretty funny moments) other than that, it's a great game! I recommend this to anyone that wants to have a short but fun experience, especially if you like women :)
