I like this game a lot. The visual style is cute, the gameplay is simple yet enticing (the grind to get every fish in every rarity is real), and I definitely think there is a space in the gaming world for what this game is meant to be: a casual online world where you just chat to people, kinda like a modern, stripped-down version of something like Club Penguin. And initially, when WEBFISHING first started getting known, I would say "yes, play this game because it's got the same vibe as the old virtual worlds we used to play on as kids".

However, WEBFISHING isn't entirely great for playing in multiplayer right now.
Being originally made as a game jam game and expanded into a full product, it has definitely not been designed with the large playerbase in mind, with security and safety features being held together with hopes and dreams. Other reviews go into more detail, but the tldr is that it's very easy for unsavoury individuals to break the safety features and be unpleasant to people who just want to catch fish (including save file manipulation).

I still recommend the game (hence the thumbs up review) if you want something chill to play for an hour or two a week to unwind after a long day, but be careful out there. If you want to play with friends, ensure that you force the lobby to be only the size of the group you're playing with. If anyone you don't recognise or trust joins, immediately close the game (alt+f4). If you're looking to play on public servers, your best bet is hopping on close-to-full servers. Singleplayer/offline play is also completely safe, if you just want to fish alone.

Installed it on my phone years ago, got it recently because of the "fire in the hole" meme and I'm having a lot of fun :)

Ok, I'm going to leave a genuine review of this.

I'd recommend checking it out just for the whole historical significance this has in terms of Half-Life 2 modding (being near-identical to its 2004 iteration currently). It's a fun little playground much alike Garry's Mod, but the absolute jank just gives it charm and character, and playing JBMod's sole official map (though CSS and HL2+Episodic maps are also playable) felt like being a kid playing GMod for the first time.

Just gonna warn you, the only "official" (idk if they really are) servers are US only currently, and because of all the physics objects being spawned in by players, multiplayer is pretty damn laggy and unstable as a whole.

Can't wait for 0.6!

Fun game, simple but endearing graphics, mini rant about something that you might want to read if you're new to permadeath games.

Death in this game really hurts. You could be doing just well and bam, a random projectile hits you and you lose everything. A whole day's worth of work trying to get your character maxed/to a certain fame threshold/with a certain loadout, all gone.

I'm also not very good at bullet-hells (in that this is the only BH i've played a fair bit of) so I die a lot. It's a painful loop that I get *very* tired of. This game isn't very fun in long runs, just little 20-minute-or-so bursts. Any more and you end up overextending and getting your face torn off, and then get forced to start over, and I end up spending even more time just trying to get to where I was.

It's an alright game, but I don't know if I enjoy it myself.

This is a pretty decent mod that's about the length of Portal. Pretty challenging, too, as it requires you to manage a third portal (which allows transportation through time), and actually uses the idea of a "third portal" very well.

I recommend being very awake when playing this, otherwise your potentially impaired cognitive ability as a result of sleep deprivation WILL screw you over a bit. However, whenever I did complete a test chamber, I felt like I had accomplished something, especially the later chambers where everything is put together to really test your understanding of standard Portal mechanics and this new time travel mechanic. One of my favourite chambers was one of the last couple, where you carry cubes backwards and forwards using Excursion Funnels - the present-day one is taken to the button far away from you, and then you take the future one back to where you are, to a button placed on the wall, finally opening the door.

All in all, a fun mod. Story's a bit lacking compared to the official games (and other mods), and the ending's a bit of a let down, but it's not a big issue - this is more of a gameplay-focused mod.

Found this recently because a friend showed me it. Played a little bit of it and it's very very fun. I recommend you also play a bit of it as you will also probably find it very very fun.
