After just under an hour with this game, I can say it has nothing to the original, I will change this review when I play more, but I would not reccomend you spend money on a game with pay to play elements, with an always online infrastructure.

Game Dev Tycoon is a game I have played before it came on steam, I was there not long after it came out, and I've stayed their since.

Pros-
Great concept provides replayability
Gives the player lots of choice
Good difficulty level makes bankrupcy sometimes hard to avoid (good as a challenge)
Modable if you ever get bored

Bad-
Everything is an algorithm, one which is easy to figure out
Often you find yourself making the same game over and over, instead of being creative just to do well.

Conclusion-
Overall, it is a great game with a amount of replay value, but can become a rinse and repeat game.
