Early Access Review
Prone to changing this later down the line.

So I decided to play on Hardcore during the EA, I managed to beat all 3 acts on normal and the 3 acts on cruel without dying, ended up at lvl 70 after the campaign.

Generally the campaign felt good, bosses were neat and mobs were phased well; the doding and tactical combat felt like it had some influence to play around my ability uptime. I enjoyed it, not perfect, way too dragged out and the maps are too big, but I could enjoy myself. I don't see myself making alts, as sitting through a 25-30 hour campaign a second time just isn't interesting to me. I don't see how future "Leagues" will give me any incentive to play the campaign time and time again -- This from a person with over 100 deleted characters at 90+ from PoE1.

After hitting maps the game just deteriorated into "Can I survive the zerg or not, and is there a on-death effect that's gonna magically make me disappear or not?" -- To elaborate...

Every mob is 3 times faster than me with a pair of 25% movespeed boots - dodging is worthless, as I get stuck in a swarm of mobs. I play a monk personally and rely on the bell move to AoE stuff down around me - the Bell has a mind of its own and won't go where you place it on the cursor, instead it'll just land somewhere near the location - and that's my first death; I couldn't hit the bell I put ontop of myself due to the auto targetting of ice strike, unlucky!

Decided to try ascending at that point - lord what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mistake.

Let's get this out there real quick; in PoE 1, one of the most profitable mechanics, yet one of the least played, is sanctum - you'd run sanctum with specific characters made for it to make it at least a tiny bit fun and optimal.

That's not the case in PoE2. I had a near-perfect no-hit run on my cruel run, stacked a good 2400 honour up just to see the boss for the first time - I got hit once and lost all 2400 honor to a 10 second crowd control I didn't seem to be able to dodge.

iunno man, just doesn't feel good.

Let's not forget that build creativity took a vacation, crafting has left the house and all ressemblance of an arcade fun gaming experience has become a tiring tryhard fiesta.

All in all I enjoyed it, but this feels more like a once and done game to me than something I'd see myself sink another 6000+ hours into.

Hope I can change this later down the line.

Naw bro, that's a refund for me - might check it out after its glaring issues are gone; models flickering and vibrating on doors and the like. FPS lookin' like it's soggy with DLSS on performance.

For now we spending that 60eur on PoE microtransactions. :^)

Had to refund the game. The control scheme for this title is the most unplayable mess i've ever had to deal with before. I liked the story, even as a newcomer to the series, but even after remapping the entire control scheme to something that felt playable; it just wasn't. >.>

The only cons I have for this game is that it's too addictive and makes me forget time. :^)

With the ingame-store removed and and everything being accessible it's by far the best Black Friday deal I could find on the entirety of steam.

Strongly recommended.

So my general skills in all video games have dropped a good 90% or so - Sweet! Horrible D-pad position, it's the size of the sun and makes games like Street fighter or general fighting games near impossible to execute well. Dark souls 3 became an abyssmal nightmare like no other the second I swapped to the controller, not a fan of that either. The only thing I've found the steam controller useful for, is when I'm too lazy to use my mouse and keyboard to browse the internet.

I genuinely must admit I hate this product with a passion, and for the price I find it to be a joke if anything. The X Y B A buttons are also so small I can literally press all 4 buttons at the same time with my thumb, and I got small hands - which brings me to the grip.

ITS SO HUGE! AAAAAAAAAAAAAH MY TINY HANDS.

So far i've tried the following genres:

Shooting games - Forget it.
RPG games - It's doable, but wonky.
RTS - Hehe, cute. Starcraft 2 became unplayable in no time.
Mobas - Blah. No.
MMO's - Where ma buttons homie
Fighting games - It's too wonky and poorly designed to fit the fast combos correctly.
JRPGS - It works! Woo!
The internet - absolutely.

I'm sad I bought it, and I'd much rather have spent my money elsewhere or get a PS4 / Xbox controller instead. It's not designed for games at all from this guys perspective. If you enjoy the controller, that's great - I don't judge, I just personally hate it.
