Pros:

👍 Enlisted captures what Battlefield V should have been—visceral, large-scale WW2 combat with immersive gunplay and destructible environments.

👍 A great balance between semi-hardcore realism and casual accessibility, making it fun for both tactical and run-and-gun players.

👍 The squad system gives you a chance to stay in the fight longer.

👍 Weapon handling and gunplay feel impactful, with satisfying recoil and sound design.

👍 Vehicles, from tanks to planes, add an extra layer of strategy and feel weighty and powerful.

👍 Maps are large, detailed, and historically inspired, making for some great battlefield moments.

👍 No entry cost to try it out.

---

Cons:

👎 AI-controlled soldiers are immersion-breaking—spinning on the spot, jumping randomly, and moving in unnatural, erratic ways.

👎 Your AI squadmates are basically fodder for the enemy.

👎 Pay-to-win mechanics ruin balance, with premium squads and overpowered weapons giving paying players a big advantage.

👎 Matchmaking is frustrating, with frequent one-sided battles that make some matches feel hopeless.

👎 User interfaces for soldier management, upgrades, and research are unintuitive and frustrating.

👎 Progression is too grindy, with upgrades locked behind tedious systems that require too much time or money.

Kernel-level file(s) remain after uninstallation

Despite assurances from Tencent Holdings, a Chinese state-affiliated entity, that the issue of leftover kernel-level files had been fixed, this problem still persists.

After uninstalling the game, I found that it continued to leave behind at least one kernel-level file on my system. Tencent previously claimed that this was a bug, yet here we are, still facing the same issue.

For those who have already uninstalled the game, follow these steps (credit to mohissa0441m and miltoid19_cat) to ensure the full removal of the leftover files:

  1. Uninstall the game.
  2. Restart your PC.
  3. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  4. Enter the following commands:

sc delete ACE-GAME sc delete ACE-BASE sc delete "AntiCheatExpert Service" sc delete "AntiCheatExpert Protection"

  5. Restart your PC again to finalise the removal of the above kernel-level files.

Responding to recurring comment themes

Cheating allegations:

I took part in the playtest for this game and clocked many hours on it. I didn't cheat in that playtest, nor did I cheat in the live game.

My record in Delta Force and other Steam games is clean.

Leftover file problem being "fixed"

At least one kernel-level file remained after I uninstalled the game. Hence, there is a need to follow the command prompt instructions to remove all kernel-level files relating to ACE.

About the game itself

Beyond the security concerns, Delta Force is a bizarre rip-off of:

  • Battlefield 2042 (2021)
  • Battlefield V (2018)
  • modern Call of Duty games (2022 to present)
  • Escape from Tarkov (2017 to present)

While some players may enjoy this bizarre mishmash of a game, I simply don't.

I sincerely believe this game is not a good use of your PC's processing, power consumption, and storage space.

The good:

👍 ExfilZone is fun with friends.
👍 As an alpha-state Tarkov rip-off, ExfilZone is very feature-rich.
👍 ExfilZone was added for free for existing owners of Showdown.

The bad:

👎 The proximity footstep noises are strange and seemingly worse inside buildings.
👎 The magnetic pickups are janky and frustrating in ExfilZone, especially in your base.
👎 The ExfilZone AI detection distance with occlusion is too aggressive.
👎 The ExfilZone scav NPCs tank a bit too much damage before dying.
👎 The render distance and texture quality are optimised for weaker standalone headsets like the Meta Quest.

The ugly:

🤮 Frequent ExfilZone contractor crashes on load-ins mean a complete loss of your weapons and other items you had equipped.
🤮 Many items (weapons, quest items and keys, etc.) will get lost forever, depending on which surface you place them on (hills seem to be the most unreliable surface).
🤮 The game suffers from a hacker problem despite having a kernel-level anti-cheat.

Stardock has effectively abandoned this in favour of their "v2" of Start11.

The right-click drop-down menu no longer works/displays if your taskbar is located at the top of the screen.

The advice from other (experienced) forum users was to buy Start11 v2.

It's not fun. The aliens are basic cannon fodder and not challenging or scary.

The sound design is bad. The guns sound weak and unsatisfying.

Overall, it's a disappointing game. I am glad Steam has refunds.

It's missing essential features and quality-of-life improvements. All too often, you can get kicked from your hosted lobby for no reason. Similarly, you cannot kick out toxic players and other irritants from your lobby.

The library of community-made mods is variable in terms of quality. The most popular mod, Clone Wars VR, is the only thing that makes this game worthwhile for me.

Sadly, it seems that this game's support may be abandoned in favour of the microtransaction-heavy Contractors: Showdown.

The crossplay with Meta is good because it means a larger overall player base. But it also means you're likely to encounter screeching children who are probably too young to use VR.

The best Watch Dogs campaign with the best urban jungle sandbox for online invasions.

Also runs and looks great on Steam Deck.

👎 I've not been able to get into low-ping sessions during peak and off-peak times in the UK.
👎 The game's performance is rubbish despite playing on a high-end rig.
👎 Offline play is not that fun because of the bad teammate AI.

I regret buying this game like I regret not buying more Bitcoin in 2010.

It could have potential, but it's not there yet.

Despite not having much playtime, I could tell within the first 10 minutes of gameplay that this game would not be fun, even with friends.

The gunplay and feedback are unsatisfying. Explosions have no depth or power. The enemies are boring. The map design is lacklustre, with poor signposting towards your current objective.

I may revisit this in the future. But, for now, it's been refunded.

Battlefield who?

BattleBit Remastered is the true successor to the classic Battlefield formula: cohesive team/squad play whilst playing the objective.

The game has proximity voice chat, which is always entertaining but especially useful when you need to ask for health/ammo from teammates outside your squad. You can also proximity voice chat with your enemies.

The maps feature tonnes of buildings and objects which can be destroyed. If a fence or wall is in the way, you can blow it up to clear a straight path to your goal.

There are 6 classes in total. Each class has its own arsenal of gadgets (specialised and general) and a limited selection of weapon and armour options.

The game runs extremely well on 127 v 127 player servers with no noticeable FPS drops on my native resolution (3440x1440).

Strongly recommended for Battlefield veterans who don't mind the charming LEGO-like graphics.

Disclaimer: I received keys for the game and bonus items after donating to the developers on Patreon. I previously played for about 47 hours on the pre-early access playtest.
