So.... rage 2. As a massive fan of the first rage game and a player of the game play demo at an event i bought this games deluxe/ pre-order edition thinking that i would thoroughly enjoy it. Boy was i wrong. after 11 hours (4 of which were spent pissing about in getting all the arks etc.) iv'e completed the woefully underwhelming story and am sat here thinking: "wow, is this all the game has to offer me."

Now don't get me wrong the gun play is ok bu it just feels so bland and generic. there are like 8 guns in the game; 6 of which you wont really use. The shotgun and the assault rifle are the only 2 weapons that feel like they do anything. Another weapon that feels useless are the wing sticks. From what was a useful tool in the previous game to something that just about has a lock on when not charged and doesn't even give the satisfaction of a persons head being lopped off like that of its predecessor.

Vehicles are bad. From only having one vehicle you can upgrade to not even needing it for most of the game as there is a small flying vehicle that makes exploration so much easier the diving in this game feels just awful.

The map. The map in this game feels even more lifeless than the last game, and the last game was set in a total apocalypse style wasteland. This map despite having some lush swamps and dense jungle is devoid of life between driving to the next objective. the random placement of enemy encampments are in no way challenging and don't need to be done/ give no advantage (reducing enemy convoys etc.)


The graphics. This game is dark. The lighting in this game affords it no favours. The explosions incredible, the actual graphics pretty good. not much to say here.

Overall this game is fun for about 4 hours in total. 100% not worth £50 or however much a triple A title is nowadays. A better game with similar setting and better game play would be the mad max game or even the original rage.
