This game claims to support the index, but the support for the index controllers is atrocious - It uses your grip strength as if it were a button (like it is on a vive); this is incredibly clunky and lead to many unintended actions. And, y'know, I can't even pause the game.

I cannot recommend this game enough. If you like building bases, managing systems, and/or deep procedural stories, this game is for you.

Also there are thousands of mods.

This is a grand strategy game made for hardcore grand strategy fans. There are a lot of systems in this game that all meaningfully interact with each other; as such, there's a lot to learn and master. The amount of customization you can put into a campaign at the beginning is huge, adding a multitude of ways for you (and your friends) to challenge yourself even after you've mastered the game. As an aspiring systems designer, this game really tickles my fancy.

I was very sad to see DOW III decided to try and be one of the 'cool kids' instead of stick to its roots and add some new /original/ mechanics. The campaign isn't terrible, it's just starcraft II's campaign with a 40k story. The story is pretty top-notch, if you're a 40k fan with decent knowledge of how the eldar hierarchy works (esp. Biel-Tan's) and/or have read any of the Blood Ravens books. But the dedicated 40k fanbase is the one relic decided to neglect cause they wanted to chase after Blizzard's.

If you're looking for bigger/cooler Soulstorm, get the ultimate apocalypse mod. If you like LOL/SCII this game could be fun for you. There's only one, yes, ONE type of multiplayer match. Suprise! It's League. I've never been much for playing RTS competitively anyways, but this is just sad. There's compstomping, but it sucks. Cause it's still just League.

The army lineups are seriously lacking. Way too few unit types with not enough variety, very similar army builds between the three races. The biggest differences are in your league hero units, most of which which you will have to babysit if you want them to be worth their salt. Forget multiple engagements, if you're gonna split your army, you gotta pick one battle to win and the other to lose. The only real tactics are to use your hero's abilities and avoid the hostile's abilities anyways. It's not even that difficult, just tedious. Basebuilding is a joke. Game's pretty though, so I guess it's got that going for it.

TL;DR 4/10 for DOW fans, 7/10 for LOL fans. Story 9/10 for 40K fans from what I've seen (I've beat about 3/4 of the campaign). Play league or starcraft instead and get the novel.

Once you master the parkour system, you'll feel like a gymnastic ninja god among men.

It only take about 20 hours of flopping around like a drunken clumsy fool to master the parkour system.

You can also get a sword that puts the buster sword's size to shame. And use it with the skill of a gymnastic ninja god.

Game's pretty alright. Aas long as you can avoid the community. (you cannot.)

Repetitive, dry, lackluster gameplay coupled with a completely forgettable story (which is hard to do in w40k).

The bullets seem to carry little weight.

One of the largest mechanics in the game is a dice roll, which is what your life or death ultimately depends on, causing all real potential for strategy to fly out the window.

I could get about the same enjoyment and excitement out of playing tenzi (a game where you roll ten dice until you get them all to match), in the end, that's pretty much what this game is.
3/10

This game does a fantastic job of making you *feel* like a space marine captain. The hits are juicy, the sound design is phenomenal. The graphics are pretty standard for a AAA at launch date. Not too shiny by today's standards, but they're well past good enough to get the job done.

The multiplayer community for this game is basically dead. But if you round up some friends, you can play the co-op invasion mode, which is a lot of fun. Just make sure to go into the bonus round knowing that you'll probably not survive.

Overall, the game mechanics are solid, the combat's fun if repetitive at times. But as I said, this game will make you feel like a space marine. I count that as a total success.
