It's like Dungeons & Dragons, minus the need for friends. One time I was playing this and 5 hours ended up passing before I realized it when I thought I had only been playing for 2 hours. 15/18

But seriously though, it's like DnD, except you control everything that happens, from how many enemies you fight in each encounter (most of the time) to which quests you do to how many characters you have in your party at one time.

It's a pretty meta game, calling upon/calling out various things you'd normally find in a DnD campaign and other tropes relative to table top RPGs, but at the same time it's pretty genre savvy in and of itself, so if you're familiar with these kinds of games, you'll probably get a kick outta the dialogue.

There's also a sequel available too if you like this then be sure to check that one out as well.

I don't know how this managed to slip under my radar until just now but I can't believe I had never heard of this game before.

First off, it's free so you'd only lose an hour of time playing (took me almost an hour to finish but I missed maybe 2 power ups).
Secondly, I'm not entirely sure how to describe the gameplay other than you walk around a world map/towns/locations and after you talk to people you go into a "heal mode" of sorts where you move Princess Remedy around a black screen with enemies and you shoot at them until they all die, thus healing a person.

Think something like Robotron or another twinstick shooter. The main difference between this and those other games is that your shots fire automatically and if you press the action button you fling a flask that has a blast radius and can either take out obstacles in fights or deal significant damage to enemies. The further you go, the more the enemies begin to fire shots like you're in a bullet hell shooter but it's not difficult to avoid enemy fire.

The only thing I could think of that would improve the game is if there were a strife button/option since you only move in the direction you press and it would make taking out enemies easier.

This game definitely deserves to be paid for instead of being free. I would gladly pay to own this game if I could.

It's short, it's sweet, it's free, definitely worth checking out, it's "Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt".

A follow-up to Pink Hour and also a prequel to Kero Blaster, at least I'm positive this takes place before Kero Blaster too.

Once again, you play as the pink office lady just like in Pink Hour. This time though, you get two levels instead of one. In a free game. What more could you ask for? (^:

Minor spoiler maybe but when you finish level 1, you get to choose between two options: an umbrella that lets you float when you hold the jump key, or an upgrade to your weapon that increases the size of your shot and I suppose it increases how much damage you do. The umbrella lets you skip a section of level two but the blaster upgrade helps defeat the boss faster.

Depending on which choice you make at the end of level one, you get one of two endings so whatever you pick alters the ending so you have a reason to go back and play through this short game again.

Also, upon beating the game once, you unlock hard mode, just like in Pink Hour. And it lives up to it's name alright.

If you liked Pink Hour and/or you like Pixel's games, then check out Pink Heaven. Just like with Pink Hour, this one is also free so you have literally nothing to lose on a fun time.

I haven't played Kero Blaster yet, but I know this game takes place before that one.

It's pretty short, like 10 minutes short, more or less. It's also 1 level long but it's still fun. Upon beating the game, you unlock hard mode.

This game is also free, as is Pink Heaven, so if you're a fan of Pixel or plan on playing Kero Blaster or already played it then check this out.

At long last, every Umihara Kawase game is officially released internationally and in one place too. It may be a 21 year old series, but it was worth the wait.

Originally released in 1997 for the PS1 in Japan, Umihara Kawase Shun is the sequel to the phenominal 1994 Super Famicom game Umihara Kawase where you play as Umihara Kawase, a 20 something Japanese sushi chef who uses her reliable fishing rod to get aross levels by flinging, propelling and grappling around, over and under plenty of platforms and walking fish enemies with the occasional boss fight or two depending on the path you take.

Here's a little more history. There were a few versions/ports of Shun. The PSP version, aplty titled "Umihara Kawase Portable", was going to be the first entry of the series to have a North American release back in 2008, and it was going to be titled "Yumi's Odd Odyssey", but it didn't happen since this version of the game had a lot of bugs and it was impossible to complete at times thus people consider it the black sheep of the series (when Sayonara came out in the US in 2013 on the 3DS eshop it was titled Yumis Odd Odyssey).
Another notable version of Shun, the DS port titled "Umihara Kawase Shun ~second edition~ Kanzenban" from 2009 was a compilation of the first two games with extra stuff like more levels and other stuff.

As for the actual game, the presentation has more to offer than in the original game. This time, 3D was incorporated into the graphics so the fields themselves are more lively and the layouts more complex. All the sprites appear to be hand drawn too. This time around, the fishing line is a bit shorter, but more elastic and springy so it might be easier for someone to traverse levels.

Music is still nice like the rest of the games in the series.

After playing the 1st and 3rd games using keyboard controls for several weeks, I can say that it's doable once you get used to it. Probably best to use a controller since all 3 have controller support but it's up to you :^)

Not much else I can think of now so here comes the closing statement. Whether you're a veteran gamer or just getting into it, this game is challenging regardless. Anyone can pick up and play this game, but it takes skill to get far and master it. It's Umihara Kawase Shun.

First, Sayonara Umihara Kawase (3rd game) was ported to steam. Now the first game in the Umihara Kawase series is finally on steam and Umihara Kawase Shun (2nd game) is on it's way before the end of 2015. What a time to be alive.

Umihara Kawase originally came out on the Super Famicom in December 1994 but never got a proper English release until 2015 when it was included as a bonus game with the PS Vita version of Sayonara (and now the PC version as a stand alone release).

The objective of this game is to go from the beginning of a stage and get to a door (sometimes there's 2 doors that you can choose from, the harder to reach one being a shortcut to later fields) via your trusty fishing rod and by that I mean you gotta grapple, swing and fling yourself across wacky platfoming levels all the while avoiding enemies (fish with legs and a boss or two) and using your crazy rubberband physics skills to get to the exit fast (if you want to speedrun or impress your friends). The game ends either when you run out of lives or you reach one of the final exit doors.

Before some levels, the game shows you a thing you can do to get through that level, either how to get across some gap or dealing with an enemy or just stuff to help you win at the game.

I don't recommend playing this on keyboard as it has controller support and it feels much better imo playing any of the games in the series with a controller/handheld system. But if you can master keyboard controls then you're a pretty cool person.

Music is nice, pretty simple but catchy I guess.

One thing this game had going for it back when it first came out was the ability to save replays. That feature is still around but you also have leaderboards too so if you like leaderboard stuff then you're good to go.

It's easy to learn for most, a lifetime to master for some. It's Umihara Kawase.

Do you like rougelikes? Do you like getting an assortment of items that do different things to help you survive longer and not die? Do you like the Macross Missle Massacre[tvtropes.org] trope?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, drop what you're doing and get this game right now...unless you wanna wait for it to go on sale, then get it once it's on sale.

Risk of Rain is, at its core, a rougelike but also a game about survival on a planet of creatures that weren't hostile until your character crashlands on the planet and then everything wants to kill you for some reason (maybe they can sense your hidden murderous intent).
At first you only have one character you can play as, with a total of 12 after you unlock everyone. The more you play, the more stuff you unlock with which you can do even more stuff to unlock even more things and so on.
You can also unlock up to 110 different items to help you outlast your enemies longer. Thirdly, there's artifacts you can acquire/unlock that change how the game plays should you switch any on.

You can use either keyboard controls or gamepad controls so there's something here for both parties.

For each run, you start off at level 1. You gain experience and money from killing enemies and after getting enough experience you level up, increasing your health and how much damage you output from attacks. The money you get goes towards buying chest (opening them) and activating stuff that can give you items.

The main goal is to find a teleporter to advance to the next level. When you activate it, a boss enemy shows up. Depending on what difficulty you play on, the timer for the teleporter to activate differs, being 90 seconds on Drizzle(easy) and Rainstorm(medium), and 120 seconds on Monsoon(hard). The longer you play, the stronger enemies become so don't stick around levels too long.

When you do die, anything you unlocked remains unlocked for later runs. Enemies sometimes drop enemy logs that have information on them you can view at the main menu and every item you unlock has some flavor text giving you more background info on different items.

In total, there's 5 stages you can play in, with a 6th stage housing the final boss. By 5 stages, I mean you only go through 5 stages and of the 5, there's 2 possibilites per level. In one run you could get one starting level but in another you could get the other possible level. The level rotation is randomized so you don't always get the same set of levels every run, but the final level is always the same.

My only gripes are the multiplayer and framerate dropping if you have too much happening on screen at once.

Risk of Rain is not for everyone but for you rougelike fans, give this one a gander. It has nice music too :^)

Are you looking for a unique platforming experience that's unlike anything most people know about? Then you should give this game a gander. If you've played Bionic Commando, then you might know what to expect. I haven't had a chance to play any Bionic Commando games before but I've been told they're similar to a degree.

The third entry in the Umihara Kawase series, Sayonara Umihara Kawase originally came out for the 3DS in Japan back in 2013 and it was later released outside of Japan over in Europe and North America a year later in 2014. The version we got was localized as Yumi's Odd Odyssey but references to the first two games in the series were kept the same.

In April of this year, the game was ported to the PS Vita under the name of Sayonara Umihara Kawase Plus, including extra stuff and the original Umihara Kawase that came out on the Super Famicom back in 1994 (both with their own trophy lists).

On October 6th, 2015, the Plus version was ported to PC, and later in the year both Umihara Kawase and Umihara Kawase Shun will get PC ports as well so now everyone will finally be able to enjoy and experience this series in its entirety.

As for how the gameplay actually functions, you traverse levels using a fishing rod to swing and propel yourself across, over and under enemies (fish with legs and some bosses like a giant crab or giant tadpole) and platforms, all while trying to get to a door as fast as possible (if you're into speedrunning or leaderboards) while some levels have 2 doors with a harder to reach door acting as a shortcut to get to levels further along the level select screen (sometimes it's necessary to access the second optional door to reach branching paths to get to one of the different bosses).

I probably could've left out most of the info before the part where I talked about how the game plays, but I just wanted to throw in a little extra context. Hopefully more people will get into this wonderful series and enjoy it as much as other people do B^)

If you like 2D Zelda games, speedrunning and funny dialogue then get Ittle Dew. Its on here and the Wii U eshop for$9.99. Its hella nice. Yeah go get it. Unless you don't like any of those, then keep moving and ignore this review.

Alright, I'll actually talk about the game. So you're an adventurer named Ittle Dew and her sidekick Tippsie are on a raft when they bump into a rock and crash on the shore of an island. After going through a short tutorial cave, there's a big castle you come across filled with weird inhabitants who wear suits and tend to be wacky. Outside the castle is Itan, who runs a shop. You can find treasure chests in the castle with coins and you use those to go towards getting items from the shop. Well, you pay Itan and he launches you to a dungeon that the item is at (a fire sword in a fire cave/volcano, an ice wand in an ice cave/dungeon, and a portal wand in the woods). Each dungeon contains a shortcut that can help you get to the boss faster (most likely than not you're gonna use these if you're speedrunning but they do help you finish the dungeons faster supposing you can figure out the puzzle for each shortcut). Depending on the combination of the items you collect (you need at least 2 to get through the castle to the final boss), you can take different routes through the castle to get to the end.

Aside from the items I previously mentioned, there are also collectible cards you can find in chests throughout the game that have a picture of a character or enemy in the game along with info on them (they go towards an achievement) and you can find scraps of paper in chests as well that go towards increasing your heart count (4 pieces make a new heart a la Legend of Zelda heart containers, this is also for an achievement if you find them all).

This game will test you and your thinking skills. Sometimes puzzles are simple like press all the switches or kill all the enemies or hit switches. Other times, you might take a while to solve a puzzle only to be stumped by the next one. Two optional bonus dungeons (The Master Cave and, as of October 31, 2013, the Compost Crypt) contain even tougher brain scratchers and while not necessary or important to the plot (I did say optional, after all), you do get an achievement, one per dungeon upon completing them and there's cards in the Master Dungeon so you'd have to complete it if you were gunning for all the cards. Think of them as advanced puzzles, more or less.

Lastly, the dialouge is quite humorous. All the characters have a self-aware feel to them when they speak, like they know they're in a video game. There's even call backs/shout outs to older 2D Zelda games like A Link to the Past or Zelda 1. It knows what its doing and you just go with it cause why not. Even the art style is appealing to the eyes.

I've probably harped on long enough but maybe this will convince you to at least check out Ittle Dew. Look, if you like the old school 2D Zelda games or know someone that does, then this game might be for you/them. Hopefully I've said more than enough to peak your interest B^)

This game is really cute. It reminds me of Yosumin and Lumines. You have to rotate a square (the size differs depending on the mode) and matching squares to make a 4x4 square out of smaller squares and if any squares are touching a big square of the same color (there's 4 colors), then those wil get cleared in the process as well, hence the more squares you have connected, the more points you score. You have a handful of different modes you can play (3 of them you have to unlock) as well as a multiplayer mode (I have yet to try it out but I'm sure it works). As for the control scheme, you can choose between left and right handed controls but since I'm not left handed this is going to cover the right handed controls. You can use either the e and w keys to rotate the board or the mouse wheel on your mouse/touch pad (I tend to find the e and w keys to be the faster option but to each their own), and you use the left mouse click to select squares. Another thing I'll mention, although its not important, if you click the ufo at the top of the main menu, you can view the opening video again anytime you want to. Not sure how important that info is but I'm sure there's people out there that like watching opening videos more than once. Lastly, there is a noticible difficulty curve so do watch out for that as the game can become overwhelming if you aren't prepared for it to move faster than expected when you go up a difficulty (or it was a little bit overwhelming for me as I was still getting the hang of the game).

As of this writing, Clickr is currently on sale for .99 during the 2014 steam summer sale, and will be that price until June 30th, so hurry and get this while the price is low.
