Early Access Review
Noitapalo: the Absolute Cinema edition... despite having been in development hell since 2017.

I like how this game basically solves many of the currently perceived problems within FPS genre by basically being "Walking Simulator with Guns" or "Crysis done right" with "FPS of Dark Souls" added into the mix. It's still in early access but it's already really good.

Highly recommended. You can really tell this came from the hands of the people who made the Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Painkiller and Bulletstorm. Strong GOTY contender whenever it's fully released.

The single biggest praise I can give to this release is that it didn't ♥♥♥♥ my DosBox setup & configuration or my save files like Nightdive's Doom, Doom 2, Quake, Quake 2, and some other releases did. This time they didn't replace the existing Steam library entries by doing "upgrade" I didn't want or request and instead made an entirely new Steam library entry for this release. Thank you.

That's a good thing and everything else is just secondary to that. And it's a good game bundle even though I have my opinion of Kex Engine featuring decent modern graphics features, alternative soundtrack and two new episodes.

So thank you for that basic thing that should've been the norm for Quake, Doom, etc. as well... finally and some of the additional content. I can recommend this to anyone new to the adventures of Sidhe elf Corvus and once that is done to the realm of Cronos.

I love FF3 as a game. It provides a balanced challenge which is something no other Final Fantasy game really does. Personally I'd recommend the Pixel Remaster over the 3D Remake... Especially if you want something more closer to the original game. The 3D remake features number of changes to gameplay, story and visuals. For example 3D remake replaces the warriors of light with proper characters and the job system has been reworked. (Just a note that the Pixel Remaster also features number of changes but less and the changes it has make more sense in the context of this game imho.)

Overall this is a good release. Especially if you want to see the game in 3D. The remake features visually fairly typical late-2000s Final Fantasy art style with its cute graphics inspired by cutesy PS1 era visual style. Music and audio is great but doesn't really have that *umf* of some of the other titles in the series.

Story in FF3 isn't a mind blowing piece of literature and it is self-aware of that fact. Thus it doesn't feature ultimately meaningless lengthy story expositions filled with lots of made-up terminology and instead goes straight to the point. I like that. It lets me play the game more. However it is kind of undeniable that this laid the groundwork for many of the concepts seen in later FF games relating to elemental crystals of light and darkness for example among others.

The 3D is good here considering that this game was originally released for Nintendo DS. This release has bare minimum PC specific features but it covers all the important ones from mouse and keyboard support to basic graphics settings. One interesting addition is inclusion of 21:9 widescreen support. The only real issue I have is that it is locked to 30 FPS which is just not great time in a 3D game that lasts easily several dozen of hours to complete. I typically get headache and start to feel ill if framerate is roughly 30 in a 3D game.

I personally think that gameplay wise in this game it is possible to get "false start" by not developing characters jobs properly both in Pixel Remaster and in 3D Remake. That can lead to a lot of "stonewalling" since this is a game that subtly will hint you if you're under-leveled and it will crank-up monster encounter rate by a lot. It also does the opposite and if you're over-leveled the game lowers the rate you encounter monsters. Gamer should develop the job level with minimal farming since it makes it much easier to progress in this game without needing to resort to tiresome grinding. If you feel the game is becoming grindfest you've hit this "false start" issue by doing something wrong in my opinion.

I'll probably write more opinions if I feel need to do so once I revisit this game.

Harvoin on demo-versio näin hyvin optimoitu, toimii hyvin Windowsissa ja Linuxissa sellaisenaan ja sisältää ruhtinaallisesti kokeiltavaa. Stellar Blade vaikuttaa lupaavalta. Suosittelen kokeilemaan.

Excellent game. Hella lot of fun at least the first few missions of the game. I don't necessarily like how "floaty" and "weightless" the mechs are in this game but it's a Japanese mech game so that kind of assumed to be the case. You drive a fantasy mech here and this is not a simulation but an arcade-action game.

This is an excellent PC port of a Nintendo Switch game. Graphics and sound work flawlessly. All the typical settings you might want to have are there.

Mouse and keyboard controls work out-of-box great and developers have even put ability to have custom keyboard and mouse control schemes for gamers. Works in Linux using Proton-GE as-is without any fiddling too.

Artstyle is bit weird and burns my eyes but it's not too offending. Soundtrack is great. Character editor gives some real actual choices to express yourself without being completely ridiculous with options.

Amazing game. The technical aspects of this game function as intended as far as I can see. And they did improve things from their previous Project Zero Maiden of Black Water PC port so much that I feel comfortable recommending this title. Keyboard and mouse support isn't perfect but it's at acceptable level with everything working and being fairly logical from the get-go. It still emulates Xbox one controller but it isn't disturbingly noticeable even if I'd prefer it not doing that. You can remap the keyboard and mouse buttons as you wish and it's possible to map two keys for one action which is great. I'll write more later.

Amazing game. Graphics and sound seem to work as intended in this port. Koei-Tecmo people have really put some decent effort into that aspect unlike in some of their past PC releases.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3399474252

However... Mouse works but has slight delay before it registers. I don't know if it can be adjusted. Mouse buttons apparently cannot be binded? But I can live with this level of mouse support since at first it seemed like there is no mouse support at all because of that delay when moving mouse. It's emulating Xbox one controller stick.

Keyboard controls are partially broken on anything except maybe US-ASCII keyboards. The good thing is that keys can be rebinded to make the game functional. This includes all the keys you need to move in menus which is a good thing and unlike what I first thought based on Koei-Tecmo's previous PC ports. Also the in-game UI does show the keyboard symbols you need to press when playing with a keyboard and mouse. This is unlike in past Koei-Tecmo releases where keyboard players have to keep guessing which key X or Y button is on a keyboard. And it's great that they've done this here.

But the bad thing is that developers who made the port made minor mistakes. The game doesn't understand that there are non-US ASCII keyboards in the world. That means that for example ";" key on Nordic keyboards is at a different location and fails to register it. That means that with default keys you cannot turn viewpoint to right for example. But at least you can remap the key elsewhere so it's not going to be an issue.

You cannot move in menus with arrow keys once you rebind the keys. But at least you can rebind keyboard keys so that menu choices are accepted with Return key and you can make the game cancel menu choices with Backspace and sometimes even with Esc key which at first seemed impossible.

This game uses keyboard to emulate Xbox one controller. With defaults it means that you use WSAD for moving in menus. Depending on menu sometimes arrows might work and sometimes don't like for example in map view the arrows do work. By default the main menu button is "Shift" and choices are accepted with "K" and cancelled with "L". Which is pretty wild but maybe not quite Naruto Ninjastorm port levels of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

This arrangement causes a problem because on Nordic keyboards to get character ";" out you need to press "Shift+Comma". Technically I should be able to press "shift+ö" to get US-ASCII ";" but because of the main menu being in shift key... the game seemingly fails to register it. Also combined shortcuts sometimes seem to work and sometimes don't. I've yet to figure out rules for them. At least in beginning sections you're asked to press the keys the pop-up tells you to do. But later on there are few pop-ups where you're assumed to press K key instead of the key combination shown in the tutorial pop-up.

Well... At least the game has some form of keyboard controls because at first I though it had none until a friend of mine corrected my initial assumption. Keys can also be rebinded and remapped to full extent as far as I see. Every Xbox One controller button can be remapped using in-game menus to match more comfortable keyboard key. Which is a good thing and makes this game playable so I don't have to refund it. I'm still not going to recommend this because this is such a basic matter that should've been addressed properly.

I'll update this recommendation later once I've figured more.

This is a fun game and people should play it because it's entertaining. It's very much not a serious racing game but it can be challenging if you so choose especially in time-attack mode against online opponents. However the main thing here is that this game is little-bit like Wipeout with pretty girls in wetsuits on a jetski with guns. It makes you enjoy life little bit more. 9/10

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2805550286

And before you guys ask, yes it has technical issues especially related to performance and optimisation. This was originally probably a PS Vita game that failed to sell, which got turned into a PS4 game, which was then ported to Windows-PCs on quickly and cheaply. And it shows in the corner cases. But all the typical settings are there and this is a massive improvement versus the other titles from the same publisher.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2805433869

The atrocious post-processing AA (They call it "Anti-alias FXAA" in this game) should be turned off. It makes everything look blurry for no real reason at all and doesn't even help with the jagged edges. But it has severe effect on performance. I need to add that audio can stutter at times for no reason and haven't found out why.

Yes, the mouse and keyboard controls leave little a bit something to desire. But the defaults are pretty reasonable if you want to play this like I do.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2805433775

But I was able to stomach some of the more atrocious issues because this was the most fun I had in a while. But overall I'd estimate the port quality to be around 6/10 or 7/10. It's serviceable especially compared to other ports from the same publisher.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2805609809

Tons of swimsuits to choose from and special moves.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2805610327

Story has plenty of cute girls doing cute girl stuff.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2805550224

Oh and one more thing... the soundtrack is pretty good. It's not like the most exceptional thing compared to other games but it is fun to listen to while you play the game.
