An absolute fun ride of a game! Easily my favourite Sonic game! /j This game looks like it is a smooth experience and it really is, you feel unstoppable until you hit a wall and then you get that boost you need a moment later and barely escape with only a single life left. The balance is a lil silly at times, some items are quite powerful, but honestly that's just the roguelike experience. I cannot wait to actually 100% this game no matter how long that may take me!

So, let me start by saying this isn't a game for everyone, fortunately I am the kind of person this game is great to other than two things.

Pros.
Incredibly tight controls
Fun Gameplay
Amazing artwork
Good use of open world

Cons
The game doesn't tell you anything about what to do
The name is not fitting of this game

The first half of this review contains no spoilers the second will, I will warn you when the spoiler part starts.
So firstly my thoughts: I first bought and played Hotline Miami a couple months ago and completely fell in love with it, the graphics were perfect, the music a big bonus, the controls were simple for anyone to learn it and the difficulty hard like it should be and with Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number they get all this right again and improved on the story aspect making it 10 times as good as the first in my mind, the new weapons blend in nicely, but I normally used the original shotgun when I could. This game reminded me of the biker missions in the way that every character is different in some way, e.g. the cop seemed more like Jacket, but his friend who I nicked name the pacifist only used blunt weapons to knock out opponents which made fighting anyone with a gun a problem (My least favourite moments). The difficulty has increased for sure in this game, in the first game I made it through levels dying once or twice and in the first level I died over and over reminding me of playing some of the last levels in the Jacket missions for the first time. I loved all the missions with Tony and the mask gang they were very fun with all the different masks, my favourite being the twins.
Now spoilers ahead since this is the part where I review the story.
On a story stand point this game is great, it tells a detailed story from many characters, but sometimes I wanted to learn more about certain characters like what happened to Jacket, I understand he went to jail and all but maybe a bit more information would have been nice. Other than that I quite liked it, the writer was found out more about the guy you kill as Jacket in the mission assault and I like that we see the stories of the different people from the original game, like the guy who you see in a couple of places in the Jacket story and how he was in Afghanistan, or that one fat guy you see shaving his head in the bathroom in one of the times you go into the bar in the first game. The amount of unexpected things in this game were crazy, one of my favourite missions has to be the final one Apocalypse was very fun and showed the head of the Russian mod killing all of the mask gang, I did like how they showed the different abilities they had, like with the twins, one head moved towards you attacking you with the chainsaw but looking like a head, the other trying to stay away shooting at you. The ending was perfect for this game, with the nukes going off and everyone dying, or did they because the final thing that happens which sort of annoyed me was the sneaky little thing they did hinting at a third game by putting you in the title screen of Hotline Miami 3 and then a couple seconds later rewinding and going back to Hotline Miami 2 title screen which I also found entertaining.
So what I thought, with everything said above I will give this game a 9/10 this game did very well to show what it wanted to show, but I just wanted more story about Jacket, other than that the story had some faults killing off a lot of characters before we learnt more about why they do what they did and I found that a bit sad.

There are somethings that could be add more modes like story mode and supply run would be cool.
