This is the most fun and unique competitive shooter we've had in years. With destruction reminiscent of the old Battlefield games, and a variety of gadgets and weapons to create your own play style, THE FINALS is a breath of fresh air in the FPS genre.

The main mode is Cashout, a 3v3v3 (or 3v3v3v3 in tournament/ranked) objective mode where you race to grab cash boxes and deposit them in vaults to earn cash. The team with the most cash at the round wins! You'll have to defend your vault from the opposing teams, who are trying to steal it from you. Coordination and ingenuity are key in order to succeed.
You'll chose from the three classes, Light, Medium and Heavy. Each class has their own set of weapons, gadgets, and abilities to choose from, and certain synergies of classes and weapons are very effective in the right hands.

The game is tons of fun, microtransactions are purely cosmetic, and really well designed. The gameshow aesthetic means that anything goes, and they've got some really good looking skins. Updates are frequent, balance is pretty good and the music is fantastic.

Try it out if you're remotely interested, you're bound to have a great time.

Helldivers 2 is a great co-op experience, probably one of the best we've ever had. Everyone should play it.

SF6 is the most accessible fighting game I've played. Modern controls, character specific tutorials and incremental combo trials make for a great new player experience. Combine that with absolutely fantastic netcode and you've got one of the best fighting games I've played in years. I do wish there wasn't a battlepass and that the cosmetic monetization wasn't as greedy, but the gameplay is good enough for me to overlook that for now.

Haven't checked the status of online matchmaking in a while, but for me (since I suck at the game) there's enough fun to be had with the singleplayer content and local multiplayer. The music is also pretty good.

A friend told me about this game back when it was in beta, I played it, absolutely loved the concept, the gameplay flow made it feel like some weird amalgamation between a shooter and a fighting game, but it works so well. I've been playing casually since launch, and this game is a really great multiplayer experience. Cross-play is really where it shines, it's really great to hop on after work and play for a couple of hours with a friend that only has a switch.

You don't need too much skill to do well, but there's a handful of advanced techniques to learn that allow you to survive longer. However, nothing is as strong as good teamwork. A well coordinated team can essentially surpass the discrepancy in skill, because dodging two balls at once is virtually impossible.

All in all it's a very fun game, more people should play it!

I enjoyed my time with Biomutant. It’s got a genuinely interesting world that’s fun to explore. Character and creature designs are very creative, and the world has this sense of whimsy permeating throughout it. That being said…

Biomutant is a very repetitive game that is easy to play in an incredibly boring way. The combat is repetitive, the looting is repetitive, the puzzles are repetitive, the narration is repetitive, and imo most disappointingly, the music is repetitive. It’s not a terrible game, and it’s not a fantastic game. It’s just a well polished, average game. I’d say get it on sale if you’re interested.

The setup of Biomutant is only superficially similar to Breath of The Wild. It’s an open world with a colorful post-apocalyptic setting, and 4 bosses located at the 4 corners of the map. You have melee attacks and ranged attacks. However, that’s really where the comparisons stop. The main story quest in Biomutant is very linear, you have to do everything in the order provided, no exceptions. You have a bit more freedom when dealing with the tribe war, but how long the quest chain lasts depends greatly on the choices you make. The story of Biomutant is self-described by the narrator as “an unusual story with an unusual ending”. This is true. However I didn’t get the story at all, and I don’t think my enjoyment of the game would’ve increased much if I did understand it.

Combat in Biomutant starts off very slow and repetitive, as your only options are slash, shoot, dodge and PSI abilities. As you progress you unlock more combos and abilities, but almost all the weapon combos use the same keypresses, save for a few of the unique tribe weapons. So combat will probably get repetitive quickly as well. The PSI abilities are a bit more varied, but are almost never optimal to use in combat.

The world is very vibrant and colorful, and is a joy to look at for the first 5 hrs of gameplay. However, environments are incredibly similar between the different biomes, with enemies mainly differing by colors and elemental traits. There’s lots of small little encampments scattered throughout the world, all scored by the same battle theme, which was a big disappointment for me. Scrap and other parts can be found throughout the world which can be used to craft weapons or upgrade existing weapons and armor, but you can get away without doing this at all.

All in all, biomutant is a really repetitive but enjoyable game, if you’re in the mood for that. It would be a fantastic open world adventure for a young child, as it has lots of cute critters and keeps violence to a comical minimum.

This game showed up on my radar after they announced that there wouldn't be any wallrunning in 2077.
I played the first demo for around 10hrs speedrunning the first level, trying out new paths and techniques was a joy and the gameplay was fast and fluid.

On release the game was fast, a few bugs made it a little bit less fluid, but it was still enjoyable.
But man, this game is hard. I'm quite stubborn, so it wasn't a deal breaker, but some sequences took hours cause I just sucked.

That's part of the appeal of the game though, a super difficult fast paced first person parkour game. It's really unique and fun, if you're into that stuff. If you don't mind dying 358 times on the first boss, you'll probably love the game. It took me around 9 hrs to beat, and there is some replayability if you like speedrunning or collecting stuff.

I really really like this game. It oozes style, the enemies are unique and challenging, the music is top-notch. I want to play more of it, but since I'm bad at the game playing it is a chore most of the time. I can only semi-reliably beat the first boss now, and in the area after that It's always a gamble whether I'll survive or not.

I'm always so tense when I play, so it's not a very enjoyable experience. Putting hours into a run just to have it ended mercilessly by some teleporting enemy is incredibly frustrating, and since I have limited time to play, I'd rather play something I can actually enjoy most of the time.

So it's not a bad game, and I would definitely recommend it if you've got time to kill, but I don't see myself beating it anytime soon.
