Hey! Heard you had a problem with vpk not running and shutting down in a second!
This is how to get your mods working

1. take your mod files and put them in a TEMPORARY directory on your desktop like: [MOD_NAME]\materials\vgui\ Drop the files in the directory.
2. Go to your game's ACTUAL directory. Example: C:\program files\steam\steamApps\common\half-life 2
3. When in the directory, go into the "bin" folder.
4. Search "vpk.exe" 5. Make a shortcut to it on your desktop
6. Drag the [MOD_NAME] folder [a.k.a temp directory] on the vpk.exe icon. This will make it automatically open in vpk.exe.

7. a command prompt window will open for a few seconds, ignore it.
8. When it is done a .vpk folder will drop on your desktop: [MOD_NAME].vpk

You NEED to recreate the hierarchy of the game files and correctly so for example "YOUR TEMPORARY DEKTOP FOLDER\materials\signs\sign_fairground_stage1.vtf' (Left 4 Dead vtf file example) and then drag your temp folder onto the vpk shortcut, wait a few seconds and a VPK file should pop up on the desktop!

Secondly, be sure the filename matches the original otherwise the image will not appear in the mod/game.
