TO GET TO REVIEW FOR YAKUZA 3, SCROLL DOWN BELOW MY RAMBLINGS

SO my yakuza journey began in 2021, i found the recommendation to begin with yakuza 0 and then Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2 and just follow in sequential order. I purchased Yakuza 0(Y0) September 2nd 2021 and ONLY completed the game finally just a little over a year later on the 18th of September 2022. For whatever reason i find difficulty rushing through a game sometimes and grinding that ♥♥♥♥ out. Regardless, I started Kiwami 1(K1) the day i finished Y0 - A month after starting K1 i also bought K2 as it was on sale. Anyway, I finished K1 six months later.
In that time between finishing Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1, it felt like an absolute journey, i mean it was changing my life and absolutely getting me through a rough transition from graduating High School to going out in the real world. I quickly became obsessed with the characters (Majima in particular) and I was heavily invested into the story. Before I started Kiwami 2 i do remember trying to 100% Y0 but i specifically remember noping out of that because of the shear size of the game, which also made me feel better continuing the series as i realised no other yakuza game has as many chapters as Y0. Anyway, I start K2 on the 24th of March 2023 and THANKFULLY finish a month later on the 29th of April, very much invested at that point. By then i had made plenty of friends over on discord and was constantly yakuza posting because of how much I loved the franchise. The same day i finished K2, I bought the Yakuza Bundle for A$25 (it was heavily reduced in price and i got the rest of the mainline series, Yakuza 3 to Yakuza 6). However, for whatever reason I only started Yakuza 3 May, a month later. I was very excited to play as I had a friend who said Yakuza 3 as their favourite game (shoutout to you mate) for the story, besides the *flaws*. So i was playing Y3 for a few days and quickly found out how difficult the game is (not a skill issue, I was playing on Hard mode and was transitioning after Kiwami 2) and then lost motivation to continue in the game until June/July and then stopped for a whole 4 months until November where i unlocked the achievement "Defeat Lau Ka Long in Chapter 8." I took a few months break from Yakuza entirely. Until around my birthday in Feb where dunkeys video on Infinite Wealth came out, and I bought Yakuza Like A Dragon(YLAD) the same day as i watched the video (I looked back on dunkeys video and i only watched a minute and a half lol). I was determined to revitalize my interest in Yakuza so i can muster up the strength to BEAT Y3. I beat the main story of YLAD May this year (2024) however, i only continued to play Yakuza 3 in June for a tiny bit to finish Chapter 9 and I got the first proof of me getting back into the game this month (August 8th) in the form of an achievement “Run 42.195km.” and finished the game 2 days later on (today) the 10th of August 2024. And that’s my Yakuza Journey (other then the odd messing around on Dead Souls on my ps3).

TO THE REVIEW!
It needs to be said how emotional these games are, there are total highs in each story in terms of happy and sad moments. In my journey, Yakuza 3 has been the best (and i predict nothing will beat that, besides maybe Infinite Wealth) for these highs in the story. I mean it has blown me away how down to earth this game is, Kiryu genuinely is the wisest character in any game I’ve played when it comes to living life. Now what doesn’t need to be said is how infamous the game is in terms of difficulty/jankness (even though I think the original 2 games outrank that, correct me if I’m wrong.) And my two cents is that with playing on Hard mode on my first run and BEING ABLE TO COMPLETE IT (seriously, if you’re struggling with the game, you can definitely do this) there is definitely a great learning curve that needs to be said. I would say when you’re about half the way through the game, you should have the combos and levels needed to power through battles, even though boss battles will still be lengthy throughout the game (even minibosses will be quite tanky). In fact by the end of the game i found the combat fun and incredibly rewarding when I realised the necessity to be blocking, dodging and figuring out whether to hit low or high. Since I have been recently consuming speedrunning content i would like to document that I am considering attempting speedrunning Yakuza 3 specifically, for no reason other then i want to learn more about the game - however I don’t know if I even possess the patience to speedrun lmao, but it’s definitely worth a shot :’)
OVERALL this is one of my favourite games, not just within the yakuza series but in general. 10/10 Rikiya best boy

Also holy moly it took me a while to write this, just about 2 hrs, i probably waffled a lot but I’m a pyro fan and a wannabe video essayist, i gotta expand the video past 8 minutes!

This game is very good, might burn out at times but is very goob. Literal heroin in a digital form and once you have a little bit, you cannot stop. Game also turns you into a literal monkey when you play it. 10/Broken Marriage would recommend

If you had a friend who had this than great you could play all day and learn alot from playing it and learning from them. If you were with slim resources such as the community or youtube it will not be as much fun than with the experience of a friend. It may be boring within the time of at least 20 hours but this game is still in early stages so there is much more content to be within your keyboard in the next (i'd say) 1-2 years till in full game. But I think this is a great game. But i would love how mabye they could add single player where you can choose a baby (or daddy) and verse a CPU especially if the player is within no (or bad internet) internet. And a tutorial where it would show the keys, show tactics and just for new or great players (in other words, you can take a tutorial anytime) Because at first when i purchased the game i was blank with the controlls but i do know some out of the obvious. So overall it would be a great passtime or just a game to have fun with your frinds!, it will require alot of improvement to be a well-known game and something new to try if you are feeling coragous! Datnyess out!
