Ubisoft, patch Zombi already. I liked the game, but I won't give it a positive review with decade-old bugs that haven't been fixed yet. You're not a small indie company.

Okay, so I knew about this game because I used to play it on a friend's Wii U and I kinda liked it. I got it on a sale earlier this year and I started playing a month ago, completing the game just now.

Bad things first:
- Buggy, buggy as hell. There are a few ways to easily softblock the game's objectives, making it impossible to complete the game. You can find almost-10 year old posts complaining about bugs that are still present today. Because of this, I had to restart halfway through. As you don't have save slots, my recommendation is that you make frequent backups of the game's save files, manually or with a software like Duplicity. This way, you can easily go back to a previous save if the game breaks ...or if you die unfairly.

- Bodies despawn very easily. I found this on a specific underground area of the game, where I killed some zombies with the crossbow, just walked around to get to the bodies and they were gone already, and my precious arrows with them.

- Default gun and melee weapon are stuck in you backpack forever. You can't drop them or move them to the safehouse containter.

- Can't change graphic quality settings or disable visual effects. On my humble PC, I got framerate drops on open areas. The only solution I could find within the settings was playing at a lower resolution. Also, this game has LOTS of filters/shaders that you may like or not, but that you can't easily disable. I managed to manipulate the game's .exe with a HEX edit editor, changing completely how the game looks (comparison screenshots here).

- Installing and using Ubisoft Connect is mandatory for the game to work.

- Some transition spaces of the game are copy and paste and appear multiple times.

- Jumpscares. There's several jumpscares scripted along the game. Cheap way of scaring or trying to scare the player.

Things that I liked:
- Issues aside: the gamplay and the plot are good.

- The Scanner. It helps you find all items, ammo and upgrades scattered around the map. If used frequently, you won't miss anyting.

- Playing this game with mouse and keyboard. It's a great improvement from playing with a bulky Wii U "GamePad" and analog sticks.

- Weapons. There's a great variety and you can use different approachs with them. My favourite thing to do is blowing up heads from some distance with the Lee Enfield carbine. Weapons level up as you keep using them and you can also apply upgrades that you find along the game. Automatic weapons ammo is scarce, tho.

Small tips:
- Expendable items:
--- Planks. Discard them all; they just take up space and you can easily beat the game without them.
--- Flares. They may useful in some situations, but don't accumulate them, just use them as you find these.
--- Food healing items. Same as flares, if you find them and need to heal, use them, but don't let them clutter up your inventory. Go for the medkits always.
--- Mines. More of the same. The are useful in some cases, but molotovs and grenades are better, IMHO.

- Shotguns:
--- Don't waste ammo or upgrades on the Model 870 Shotgun. You will find the better Benelli M4 Shotgun just a bit later. You could even ignore the dual barrel shotgun too.

Bottom line:
If you like first person shooters and/or zombie videogames, buy Zombi when it's on sale, but search for the game-breaking bugs before starting a run, so you know where to be careful. Also: don't try to refuel the generator if you still don't have the fuel ;)

Yeah the 2021 patch was what I was talking about. I guess at the time I thought it came out in 2022 rather than 2021. Also, I think I was talking about the crash on startup bug, which was the only thing fixed in the 2021 patch. Any other bugs are probably still present.

@death how do you know the game was updated?

The last update/patch I can find is from 2021

Are we talking about some kind of third-party patch?

Ubisoft is merely the publisher. Not the developer
