It was hard at first but once I got the power armour 40 hours in it really opened and became a lot of fun. Worth sticking with!

There's a mic bug that's been known since 2017 but they've made no attempt to fix it. You need to pass a mic check to even get into private games which is ridiculous. Tried playing with the audio working over Discord, but the game just refused to let me in. I found fixes which worked but they only worked until a loading screen, and there are a hell of a lot of those because the absolutely abysmal online service means constant restarts. Unfortunately you need to use Uplay to use this game and it wouldn't surprise me if that's half of the problem.

May well be a great game if you're lucky enough to have none of the issues, but in my case it was totally unplayable. Seriously, if Ubisoft are going to make it mandatory that you pass a mic check to get anywhere in the game then there needs to be some option to select a device. Given that there have been complaints about this same issue dating back 4 years, though, it looks like they just don't care which I guess is par for the course. Not a good reflection on them, though, given that Phasmophobia, a game made by just one person, works absolutely perfectly. Inexcusable, really

Great remake. Shame about the bosses.

I would legitimately be able to say I preferred this to even Half-Life 2 if the bosses hadn't been changed in such a way that they become frustrating and tedious slogs to fight, even compared to the original where they were hardly highlights. It really is a shame because the expanded Xen is far more engaging, even if the second to last chapter does go on maybe a little bit longer than it should have
