The third campaign map. I had just finished building an enclosure for some parasaurs. It was only my fourth enclosure, and I was getting pretty comfortable with the system. When the dinos were finally delivered, and exploring their pen,

God, in all his anger for my arrogance, opened the skies, and the rains began to fall. Then, as if to show where his fury was directed, a category 5 tornado immediately appeared directly on top of my small herd of 5 parasaurs, casting them into the shadow realm for being deceptions of satan.

Game's sick. Also looks nice with good graphics. 8/10

TL;DR: A 5 year old with 2 crayons could do better. Save your money.

Imagine for a moment, if you will, that you want to play a battlefield campaign set in World War 2. Imagine expecting to fight on an actual battlefield, except... sike! Have a bunch of stealth segments! We set the game in World War 2, but you don't get to fight any actual battles. HA! What do you think this is, Hell Let Loose? NO!

Triailleur opens with a great combat segment, only for it to cut into a stealth segment, which leads into some lame 2 minute fight that isn't even intense enough to call a skirmish, and then another stealth segment that you can just turn into another battle at any time. They have the balls to make a statement like "no one ever told this story" and then tell it like a bunch of netflix original showrunners. Apparently all those colonial fighters that gave their lives for the "homeland they had never seen before" didn't deserve more than a single mission that lasts an hour-ish (if you're messing around). Literally wronged every single one of them. At least they got a mission, though. The Harlem Hellfighters got a namedrop and some skins in BF1, and they were THE MOST effective american unit in WW1. I'd call it a joke, but its not funny, its just pathetic.

The Last Tiger? The one mission where you get a tank, and it wasn't even available at launch? It plays like an On-Rails vehicle segment for a ps2 game, except they forgot to put you on rails. Oh, and more stealth segments! You played the only tank mission to do stealth, right? Of course you did! By the way, it's apparently not even real! Imagine having all kinds of history to pull from, including a Tiger that fought 50 T-34s with only infantry support and WON, and you make something up. You make something up, and give it the blandest writing possible.

Was so bored with the uninspired bile that I couldn't even bring myself to play the other 2. Probably just more stealth missions in a game that's called "Battlefield" and not "Metal Gear Solid".

Hey, this is a World War 2 game, right? So, uh... where are the Soviets? You know, the guys that took Berlin? The guys that had the most casualties in the war? Probably better that they didn't get featured in a game about a war that culled like 20% of their male population. Wait, who's Lydia Litvyak? Roza Shanina? Idk who that is either, sounds like a fake name. Aleksandra Grigoryevna Samusenko? Sounds like you're casting a spell, man. I bet none of these people did anything important. Don't google them at all :)

I picked this game up at 90% off, and I still feel robbed. I'd feel robbed if I got this for free. Game has literally no right to call itself a WW2 game. Its more like a WW2 cosplay you bought at one of those Halloween shops that opens in an abandoned blockbuster location.

Oh, there's a premium cash shop, by the way. They gave you a turd, and think you'll give them more money for it.

its fun but it just plays like c&c 3 tw to me with the way troopers handle. nothing necessarily new or eye opening for me other than dead bugs and apes that want to live forever. If they expand on the features a bit then id like it more, and the campaign is fun at least as opposed to other small rts titles. half the fun of fighting hordes in an rts is building the walls to break the waves and the guns that cut them away, and you already get a bit of that with engineers, would just be fun if you could do a bit more. What they DO already there have is absolutely fantastic and i did not regret picking it up at all. could use a lot more content though.

The game is being worked on my a one-man dev crew, so if you keep your mindset based around that fact when you play the game for the first time, you will see that this game is pretty good for what it is. This game is essentially Earth Defense Force 5, but it attempts to have more serious overtones to it, which can hurt the story at times but doesn't mess with the combat at all, as its just a mech-centric horde shooter. 8/10

I'll just be completely honest, the replay-ability of this game lies solely in the fights, which of course is obvious in the fact that it is a fighting game, but i expected more out of this than what was actually there. the game took exactly 6 hours to beat for me and i was bullsh!tting my way through the campaign, which is just the anime in game form like ultimate ninja storm or etc. The list of playable characters is small considering the fighters you meet in the show, though i will at least cut them some slack to the fact that *some* of the characters havent necessarily revealed their "moveset" as it were.

I expected way more out of this for the price it was at. Im gonna keep it, just to casually fight a CPU every now and then, but gamer to gamer, dont get let down when you realise how watered down this actually is when you play it. There'll probably end up being an extension dlc like they did with the Attack on Titan game when they released season...3 i think it was? (The final battle before the secret is revealed). However, there is also a chance that they wait until enough content is released in the anime to pull an ultimate ninja storm and release a second game. Either way, worth playing, just know that you will not feel justified with the price it lies at.

So I'll admit, I played the beta for this when it was going to be released on the PS4. It was a lot of fun back then, but I had no clue it was still around, being updated by devs and played by people until about 3 or 4 days ago. It's held up for a while, now. The abilities are something to get used to, but it makes sense in the context of the game. The ship types are pretty cool, and the actual chassis designs are hit or miss, but more often than not, they're pretty good. the only limit to this game is the number of ships. I came back thinking there'd be a bunch of new stuff, and there *is* but only hero ships and captain uniforms *pay for it*. That's my only drawback is that there's a lack of new content from the time that I left up until now. That's just my opinion, though. If you're new to this game and looking to see if you should try it, there's enough here to satisfy you.

This is the most even time ive ever had on a game, so I'm logging my review to please all the OCD peeps. I gotchu family.

TL;DR: The game is good. Definitely a buy when it's on sale, and the updates from here will only make it better. Was definitely worth waiting to pull the trigger on if you've been unsure about buying it in the past.

Deets below, family.

This Review will be broken into 2 parts. The first part will be from a history nerd's prospective. The second part will be from a paradox gamer's perspective. Indulge where you will.

History Perspective:

Ho.
Ly.
♥♥♥♥.
This is gold. Hear me out.

Most people, I think, have a general Idea of what Rome's history was like. Something something, conquered the whole world, something something Nero Caligula Burned by Barbies. Well, random viewer who felt personally attacked by what I just said, let me intrigue you on something. If you've ever been mildly curious about any general information? This game's got you. Of course, don't get me wrong, some things are spruced up to be pretty(Rome is over 2,ooo years old mind you, not all the history is known for a fact yet anyway), but regardless, the general information is there. There are even missions you can do that will set you on the exact path that Rome took to greatness. Its a entertaining, yet generally educating experience, not to mention, if you finish a play-through as Rome, look into 'em again. See what you did different from what they actually did. Its always a fun experience.

Now, my general history buffs. Boy, oh Boy, this here? This game right here? This is your WET. DREAM. MY GUY. Dude, most people only know the Samnites exist because of Gladiator( PHENOMENAL FILM BY THE WAY JESUS), but do you know how cool it is, to drop into the world map, see that the border stretches from the Pillars of Hercules to INDIA??? At that, Samnium exists!!! The Legendary City of Thebes? Playable. Delphi, the home of the fabled Oracle? Playable. the Averni? Playable. Bro... the Caledonii? Playable. Teutonii? Playable. This game. Has. It. All. The DLC is definitely a recommend for you guys, because it adds more missions to the Greek Cities, and the starting year is roughly around the death of Alexander, so there's a lot of 'em. However, if you just wanna dip that lil' toe in the water and see what's cookin', there's a free Punic Wars DLC that adds a TON of stuff to Carthage and Rome in terms of missions and characters that will appear (Play Carthage btw. ♥♥♥♥♥ W I L D).

Paradox Gamer Perspective:

It's Crusader Kings.

Okay I don't think I have to go into much detail if you've played Crusader kings, but just in case you HAVEN'T (I'm looking at you guy that's still reading. I know you played it. This ain't for you, family) hopefully I can give a good bare-bones explanation as to what the game feels like.

So, you boot into a new game. What do you see? Border gore. Jesus H. Christ borders everywhere. Hispania looks like moldy rainbow cheese, and I think Londunum has an infection. Every single one of them there nations is playable. Most of the smaller ones (and I mean most, family) have simple conquer missions, where it will give you a set of tasks with the general goal of taking over a large portion of territory. Some of the barbarian nations with specific geographical locations have special orders where they can form a special nation (For instance, if you play as a barbarian nation located in modern-day france, you can form Gaul if you conquer all of it).

So you see some big ol' boys on the map. Carthage, The Antigonid Kingdom, Egypt, the Seleukids, and a few more. Don't play as any of these to start. Too much land, complicated missions and just a general information dump make most of these really difficult for beginners, and I can almost guarantee it'll make you uninstall. Just Play Rome (tm). A set of easy to follow, (and pretty story driven) missions, as well as a ♥♥♥♥ huge levy for Latium make Rome one of the easiest, if not THE easiest start.

Some starter tips: Boy, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ turn down that UI scale. I had a migraine for the first 10 hours I played this, and I didn't know why until I made the UI smaller and it went away. Don't do what I did, man. After that, eh? just have a good time. DEFINITELY give the tutorial a run-through. The tutorial is pretty special here, too, because you can do the objectives in any order, but they all lead to a common goal.

Well, uh... yeah so that's that. If you made it this far... Jesus Christ man you read all that? pft, anyway, yeah, so the game's a 10/10. Definitely worth a buy when a sale pops up (and they do, often). anyways, yeah, like, why are you still reading this? ♥♥♥♥ man. Well, you want to be friends or somethin'? yeah cool drop the req. Anyways, I'm gonna hop on this train I'll see you later, family.

From the story perspective:
The story is really unique and (i cannot stress it enough) VERY well written. The historical aspects of the story don't feel don't feel overextended. It's written generally enough to where you aren't blasted with random knowledge, but still get a good feel for the era. Also being able to experience a story taking place in history from the perspective of someone who isn't the hero for once is really refreshing and a really interesting take. Absolutely bravo on this, and i hope they come out with more games like this one purely because of their writer. (1066 A.D. you know what I'm talking about and if you've beaten this game through you know they can pull it off.)

from a gameplay perspective:
The game is really punishing, first and foremost. If your morale isn't high, then you will not complete this game. You'll get mad. You'll feel like you can't go on. The fustration will make you alt+f4 a time or two, trust me, i know. But trust me when i say, it's worth it to dust off the shoulders and try one more time. The fighting sequences can get really annoying. My experience is only because i have terrible luck(i miss on 75%+ hit chances uncomfortably often). Other than the combat though, the game is pretty simple. training for skill boosts, and winning the favor of your maniple and centurion.

Conclusion:
Aside from the combat and the story, the only gripe i have with this game is that it's too short. I know, some of you are thinking "Well it's basically a Text-RPG roguelike so you can do multiple runs its made to be short," and don't worry i know. The writing of the story itself is even made to incorporate how short it is, But with how well the gameplay and the writing fit together, they could easily make something fantastic that has length and DEPTH and still have a good quality for replays. Half of the experience in a game like this is the journey itself, so why not make that journey a wild ride that takes you for a while, you know? Either way, it's a great little title that you can sink a few hours into on the side, and it's a great read. 9.5/10
