Absolutely as amazing as I thought it would be. How often do games live up to the hype like this?

If you think you might be interested, just buy it!

Classic TechLand, buggy and unbalanced AF. It took me an hour or so of fussing with the game to get it set up so I could use my second monitor (apparently this has been an issue since the game came out). Speaking of which: a large number of issues you run may into you quickly discover that TechLand was aware of them and has zero interest in ever fixing them. Lots of bugs, sometimes gamebreaking, that TechLand knows about and still exist in the game after 5 years. Not a wonder they moved to the sleaze-king publisher Warner Bros for this title. At least they did a free weekend so I didn't have to waste money to figure this out.

Fortunately these guys won't be making Dead Island 2 and we will get to see this franchise without their garbage engines and design.

This game *was* amazing, but the developers keep breaking mods often enough to the point where devs are giving up and quitting. The real problem is: Without these mods the game just isn't anywhere near as enjoyable because the developers stock ideas with this game just isn't that fun to me (and plenty of other people). Hinterland, wake the hell up and start giving a ♥♥♥♥ about your mod community... Quite a large number of people don't want to play the game the way you want us to!

Early Access Review
I am writing this review after playing the Alpha 17 Experimental over the last week or so. I am very impressed that the devs are still putting so much work into 7 Days, and I am hopeful we will eventually get to Beta stage and eventually out of Early Access. It's been a long haul (the game has been out for nearly 5 years at this point), and I have been playing for most of those.

This is why I had to nominate this game for the "Labor Of Love" award, and I hope y'all do the same.

Now about A17: It is a huge update that changed large aspects of the game, makes the game far more challenging, and shakes established strategies up. The new vehicle system is particularly awesome. I haven't gotten there yet but I am looking forward to flying the gyrocopter. So much has been changed, its pretty much a different game. Needless to say, it has definitely renewed my interest again, and I am looking forward to deploying A17 to my dedicated server hopefully soon.

Thank you for all the fun, Fun Pimps, I genuinely hope you guys can get this out of Early Access at some point!

Love my Steam Link. Turns any of my PC games couch freindly, specially if they support the Steam Controller. If they don't I have a wireless keyboard and mouse that are always plugged in too. Pretty much never turn my consoles on anymore, haha.

Almost no discernable latency, upscales on my 4k tv nicely. Anything discernable happens over wired as well and isn't even noticable after a while (due to the weak hardware in the Steam Link no doubt, but given the price, impressive). If you have a solid router and not enough interference in your neighborhood, don't bother with wired because wireless works just fine. I have an ASUS RT-AC68U, which seems to do the job.

Early Access Review
Pretty awesome game, definitely still needs some work, theres a reason why this is Early Access, but don't let that stop you! It's going to be exciting to watch this game develop, and I absolutely cannot wait for the campaign to be finished.

Game controls are a little confusing and need some better explanation, the three tutorial videos are definitely not enough and will be overwhelming for a new player.

Update: There were some issues with AI and a few others that I posted in my previous review that seem to be fixed now. Making a lot of progress, and its only been a month. The UI and overall game is feeling a lot more polished and the AI, while still aggressive seems to be functoining adequately. Still running into bugs but no showstoppers other than some issues repairing modules on the Cutter chassis.

One of the best adeventure games I have played in a while. I am going to have to check out some of Wadjet Eye's other games now.

This game is an old school style adventure game but with some new innovations that make it feel more fresh. Theres a Short Term / Long Term Memory system, four controllable characters, a unique conversation system, and lots of brilliant and unique puzzles, some of them with a hard scientific edge. The savegame system has steam cloud support, and there are steam trading cards and an extensive list of achievements, anda commentary mode that add some replayablity.

Now for the bad, the game was a little buggy, I came across a dialog glitch where everthing sped up and dialog was skipped through several times, and characters got stuck a few times, but nothing game breaking. The overall sound felt dated, as did the graphics, but I think it was deliberate as they were going for that old school feel. The soundtrack was actually pretty decent though. There are no graphics options, you can only run the game in a window, but it still plays decently despite this.

Overall, the story felt modern and captivating. The game was challenging, but the story was intriguing enough I was compelled to keep plugging away. Will be playing through again to try and get 100% completion and some of the achievements I missed, I ended up 5 points away from 100% on my first playthrough!

Pick this up at full price or on sale, either way you won't be dissapointed.

I wanted to like this game. I really really did, As a huge fan of Petroglyphs work in the past, from Empire At War to their work at Westwood. I gave the single player a shot, and I found myself intrigued by the story, but frustrated with the mechanics and design at every turn. I was going to play it and debate picking it up on this free weekend for 20$, but I came away very underwhelmed. Everybody says this game is more micro than macro, but even the macro is sort of broken. The units are slow, the pathing is terrible, the campaign/single player AI is terrible and units will stray from their posts and get their asses killed (randomly it seems). The build progression is a little broken and unintuitive in various ways and is far too base building and wall building centric for my taste also.

Going to wait for this to drop below 5$, because despite all this, I would like some more time with it, I just don't feel like its worth more than that.

Wow! This game is innovative and unique. The detail on this game is incredible. It is a labor of love, you know this especially if you have seen the developers conference at GDC.

If you like Rhythm games, if you like Bullet Hell/Danmaku, if you like side scroller Shoot Em Ups, any of these genres, you will absolutely fall in love with this game. The campaign itself is little short, but it has many hours of replayablility.

The only reason I can think of that this isn't in almost everybodies steam library is because it was horribly marketed and nobody knows it exists. Next time you see this on sale, don't even think... pick this up!
