If the original Valkyria Chronicles was a game anyone could pick up and enjoy, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a game that can only be enjoyed by weebs.

While the gameplay and mechanics are probably better, the storytelling has taken a profound step in the wrong direction. It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of anime tropes with no authenticity, shattering the expectations set by the original with significantly lower levels of quality, maturity and character realism.

In the shortest amount of words possible: it's gone full anime. Never go full anime. Avoid like the plague.
