Ni No Kuni? Ni Yes Kuni! This game is so gosh darn beautiful. Cut-scenes are animated by Studio Ghibli. Environmental textures are drawn by hand. The cell shading on the character models allows it to stand the test of time and provides wiggle room for the jagged models. It is a remaster of a PS3 game after all. The game has an art style that drops you into your childhood. Don't be fooled though. This game can be hard as ding dong hell. Boss fights are frequent and can sometimes be completely unannounced. Some common thief ran off with the local shopkeepers pot? Better go get the pot back for the poor fella. Surprise! There's a flippin' demon inside of him! Jumping on some mushrooms and splashing in a spring? Surprise! Have a moose on steroids! Repairing the broken marriage of a mechanic at the local shop? Jeepers! Another flippin' demon! All in the first few hours mind you. This may look like a kids game but your children will break their controllers over this one folks. The battle system is great. It's almost got a Pokemon feel to it, except Ash is a flippin' wizard mun. I don't know what else to say except that you have to play this game.

10/10, would recommend

What can I say about this game? You get what you pay for. I've learned more about cars from this game than I have in the 11 years I've been driving. The game doesn't outright explain how parts work but if you're sharp enough to grasp basic engineering concepts you'll learn exactly how a car works.

That said, the game costs 20 bucks, it ain't perfect. The developers had to cut corners in some places to save on what would be ridiculously costly to code. For example you put wheels on with 'lug bolts' instead of lug nuts. It doesnt detract from the experience or the learning element though. It's still thoroughly enjoyable to start in a tiny garage with no money and fix cars until you've got a massive garage, a car park full of custom built rides, and cash coming out your exhaust pipe.

All in all I have been having a blast with this game. Be warned, if you hate repetition and grind, this game is not for you. You have to get your hands dirty and work a little. You start broke. You can't go buy a car to build. You can't repair parts. You can't even take on expensive repairs because you can't afford to repair them. Be prepared for brake job simulator for the first couple hours. You'll change so many brakes you could do it in your sleep. Gradually the repairs get harder and you make more and more money. You can choose which jobs to take and which aren't worth it. Oooooh and that feeling of seeing your first car, from a junkyard, fully restored... It... MAGIC!

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got about 20 rubber bushings to replace.
