If you could make crack from playing cards it would be called Balatro.

This game is a breath of a fresh air in 2024. A superb RPG, with no bs, no micro-transactions or any sort of online requirements, just a really really good RPG. I've enjoyed every moment of the game so far and I hope the devs consider making many DLCs or expansions. I would happily purchase DLCs and future games from these devs, they seem to actually understand what makes games fun.

Edit: It took 57 hours for my first play through and without a doubt this is game of the year for me. I'm about to start another character so I can try to get the 10 remaining achievements, that's how much I've enjoyed it.

I've fallen in love with this game and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

One of the best 'bullet heaven' games available - which got even better with the 1.0 release.

I love this game, it's an all time classic for me.

Seems a good variation on the standard survivors/bullet-heaven genre. I need to get a bit more gameplay done to feel it out a bit more but at the moment, it's fun, and I am looking forward to the full game release.

A mixed bag on this one because I really don't understand the developers logic.

On one hand it is a fun and polished bullet hell game with lite RPG aspects.

On the other hand it is a game with lite RPG aspects, which includes gold, shops and loot drops, yet you have absolutely no way to sell items. You can either throw the loot in the bin or store it in your always-bloated-with-junk stash, that's it, it makes no sense. It also doesn't support Steam cloud saves, so good luck if you want to play this on both your gaming PC and your laptop or Steam Deck. It also doesn't remember if you enable Windowed mode, so you have to toggle the setting every. single. launch. or it will start fullscreen.

It's a little frustrating, and some of the dev choices are odd, but I'll just about recommend it because the game play is mostly fun.

I've only played the single player roguelite at this point, so my views are aimed at that. It took a run or two until things clicked but once it did, I've been really enjoying it. The bots could do with a little work and the performance occasionally gets a lil janky but overall it's a decent roguelite that's pretty addictive when you get in to it.

Looking forward to see what future updates bring because so far so good.

Early Access Review
What a gem this is. It's got a Kingpin: Life of Crime vibe to it and that works for me.

Top stuff!

An absolutely superb bit of software. I use this to get games with poor performance to run well. (yeah I'm looking at you Ubisoft games!) Set the game to run at 72fps, enable LSFG 2.1 and BOOM, smooth as silk 144fps. AC Odyssey has never run smoother than with this tool, it was worth the price for that alone for me.

It also works for video too, both on media players and browsers.

Re-review after latest update: I now use Lossless Scaling with almost all games apart from competitive FPS. It improves the frame-rate and frame pacing in most games, and makes most games so much smoother than they are natively with the added bonus of lower GPU/power usage, even on my 3080. This is, without doubt, one of the best bits of software on Steam. I especially like using this when streaming CS2 matches because CS2 looks weird at 60fps, so with this you get 120 whilst watching matches on Twitch or Youtube, and it's sooo much better.

Edit: The new LSFG 3.0 is pure witchcraft! Best money ever spent on steam.

(Ignore the time used, the app runs without steam running, so steam doesn't often track its usage.)

As someone who grew up playing Sensible Soccer, this is right up my street because it has a lot of the same vibes. Simple but effective graphics, addictive gameplay and the ability to create custom tournaments for both solo and multiplayer. I've had more fun playing this than the last Fifa game I played.

If you like footie games, this is a no-brainer in the sale, imo.
