So this is the first time I've ever written a review, I'm simply not the type to do so.

I've accounted upwards of 2.000 hours on the game as I had countless hours more with the WT launcher, as opposed to on Steam.

Needless to say what motivated me to write this review is the recent review bomb movement which already is starting to have POSITIVE effects on the game as some quite frankly predatory changes to the games economy were reverted.

I used to play War Thunder in the early 2010's a lot when I was a teenager and then took a very very long break from the game, having reached rank 4 in most nations in both aviation and tanks.

I came back to 3 new ranks added and hundreds of new vehicles. Everybody is talking about silver lions (in game currency) but no one here seems to be talking about the ludicrous research points requirements to progress further in the game.

The game is designed that Rank 5 is the top tier when it comes to research points rewards, I very very quickly realized this when trying to spade out (unlock all modifications for a vehicle) my Rank 4 vehicles and move onto Rank 5 WITH a premium account. One can look up my statistics on Thunderskill if they are that interested, I play decently and yet the grind is unbelievably slow, so slow that I can't believe how I even played this game for this long. They SURELY must have nerf'ed the RP gain over the years because this is just not okay.

Now you think when they add a new top tier than the rank before is easier to reach? Funny. Rank 5 is hard to reach, rank 6 even harder, forget about rank 7 as a mortal.

I did the math. If you were to get 5K RP a match (a match lasts ~20 minutes) and most tech trees require about 1 to 1.5 million RP to get to the top vehicle; Youu require up to if not more than 1.000 hours of playtime with a premium account to get to the top tier in ONE nation. Then you also add the fact that you need multiple vehicles of a rank to progress further (AKA 6x rank 5 vehicles to unlock rank 6 vehicles and so on).

After roughly 2.000 hours on this game, I never progressed further than rank 5. There's talks about adding a rank 9 to the game.

Any person I talked to that actually managed to reach top tier were people with hundreds and hundreds worth of dollars invested into the game, with 70 dollar premium vehicles and thousands of hours on their record. Yet any advertisement you see from War Thunder is advertising top tier vehicles which is quite frankly unobtainable for anybody that doesn't have an unhealthy amount of patience and way too much free time on their hand, alongside the willingness to spend 3 figures on this game.
