Gameplay-wise probably the best part of the series. DS1 will always be the most classic game, however, DS3 picks up strong traits and solves issues of the series. Except some issues with the camera I can't think of technical issues in this game (unlike DS1). There are again less Boss fights than in DS2, but this time with the credo quantity over quality. The Boss fights are wonderfully designed and always (nearly always) thrilling as they were in the strongest situations of DS1.

I highly recommend getting the season pass for this game. The level design in Ashes of Ariandel is imho mediocre, but the amazing Boss fight compensates that. However, the main reason for the season pass is the second DLC (The Ringed City). It has amazing level design paired with some of the most satisfying and most difficult boss fights of the series.

Nice art design, Xcom-like gameplay, snappy controls and very cool aiming mechanics. Great game! Fans of XCOM or Billard will love it.
