At first, the game felt a bit generic, still interesting, just a little samey; but after scratching the surface a little more I realized that the depth and creativity of this title is astounding. I've only put in 9 hours and I feel like its going to take an eternity to complete it. An eternity I am looking forward to. Even the lore is engaging, I've gone from the guy that was skipping journals and computer logs to the guy that reads them through and through. Anyway, its a great game.

This game is basically "Left 4 Dead" with RPG elements. I enjoy the gameplay loop and will continue to play it but it would have been a better experience overall if it copied its predecessors "Vermintide" and "Vermintide II" and skipped the cutscenes, let us pick our missions, launched with a crafting system, and released cosmetics after the game was 100% playable.

1. Skip the cutscenes:
The narrative experience in this game is "we'll let you work for us if you do better" on repeat. Every cutscene is the same thing with a different NPC.

2. Let us pick our missions:
The mission selector is a rotating 12 random missions of various difficulty and mods that expire in 20 minutes or so. If the mission you're looking for isn't on the board you get to waste time until it is.

3. Launch with a crafting system:
Currently at launch you can spend a currency found laying around the missions to upgrade your gear to the next tier without any rerolling of its current attributes. Thats its. "Vermintide" does better.

4. Release cosmetics after the game is 100% playable:
With a new game now days its to be expected to have bugs, glitches, and optimization issues. People get over that pretty quickly. The problem here is when you run a predatory time lapsed "Fear of missing out" cosmetic system with a currency you have to spend your hard earned money on before the previous issues stated are fixed. For a bundle cosmetic set it costs 2400 Aquillas yet you can only purchase in increments of 500, 1000, 2100, 4300, and 7000. Cosmetics are entirely optional, I get it, but the problem is that its released before the crafting system and game optimization... I mean half of the stuff laying around on the dessert map can't even be picked up.

I'll continue to play and enjoy this game. I know it will meet its potential just like "Vermintide". I am just a little dissapointed by how it launched.
