Too fast paced for me with what seems to be a pay-to-win character/class system. Not for me, but some other people will enjoy it.

I am editing my review of this game from negative to positive.

Splash Damage, as of January 15th, removed all microtransactions from the game and fully refunded everyone that purchased the Full Merc Pack and buffed the amount of in-game currency used to unlock characters substantially, since development of Dirty Bomb has finally come to close and the devs are moving on to other projects. Splash Damage requires kudos for this and I wish them luck in their future endeavors.

Actual review: This game this a super-fast paced, team based, objective oriented, hero shooter with light parkour elements, with each character having their own abilities, weapons (which can be changed if you get weapon cards, but I never unlocked one in my time playing), and stats. There are higher tier character cards (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Cobalt specifically) that will add small perks and buffs to the character shown that can improve their performance. You can craft higher tier cards using a currency called Fragments that is earned by scrapping other loadout cards you get from buying loadout crates with credits.

The core gameplay is very polished and fun, the map design is solid, consistent playerbase at the time of editing, and a pretty good community in my short experience.

My only real complaints are that a few of the weapons don't really seem to deal a whole lot of damage, but that might be because I'm not the best at aiming, damage seems inconsistent at times, and (for me) how fast the gameplay is. I've had a few scenarios where I shoot what feels like 45 bullets from an MP5 into an enemy with a small health pool like Aura or Kira and they manage to kill me with over half their health remaining or where I've been playing Aura and I'll encounter an enemy Aura and I will get right in her face with a shotgun and shoot her in the chest and she'll survive with 12 HP and I'll die in one shot for it. But then the next life, I'll encounter the same person again and do the same thing and she'll die in one shot. Also melee hitreg is wonky, I've had multiple occasions where I will clearly knife a downed enemy multiple times in a row and they don't die until the 3rd or 4th swing.

The fast gameplay is fun until you find someone who knows how to use their character so well and work with the parkour system that you just have a Phoenix jumping from wall-to-wall beating all of your teamates and yourself to death with a cricket bat, purely because of how much of a ninja he is, although that is pretty funny. I don't mind high skill-ceilings, but that's a little much for me, no one should be able to run into an entire enemy team from the front and be able to melee them to death.

Overall, Dirty Bomb is a super solid and fun game with good devs formerly behind it, and I think it's definitely worth your time, provided you can aim well of course. It has a couple hiccups every so often that won't be fixed, but they shouldn't detract from your gameplay experience too much. This game isn't for me, but I do think its worth a shot for anyone looking for a good shooter, now more than ever.

Very difficult for newcomers and constant death (Probably) awaits! But very addicting and it brings you back every time!
