This is a cool game and I am having fun. I was introduced to Elder Scrolls with Skyrim, and wanted to go back through the early years. The semi-open world nature of Arena makes for some adventure without getting completely railroaded. Premise is simple, save Tamriel from a usurper while running some fetch or deliver side quests to aid in gaining levels so you can buff your stats. I also like the custom spell feature and buffed weapons/wearable accessories. If memory serves, this was one of a few leading edge DOS based games offering open world vibes.
The only drags I have run into are the repetitive nature of the side quests and the game gets a bit glitchy using DosBox. On the side quests, I get the age of the game and limited memory size, so I can overlook the repetition. For the glitches, I follow my Skyrim rule of save often and reload when the freeze or glitch comes up.
