Early Access Review
Beautiful and addicting. One of the best early access games I've experienced. Easily 100+ hours.

I regret paying for the Gold Edition. I keep trying to get invested, but besides the obvious performance frame rate issues on high-end machines, the game breaking bugs, the unfixed game-crashing errors even a year after release, it's just plain boring most of the time. The high points of the game don't feel worth the trouble of even opening the game, and I've completely lost interest half way through the main story. It just feels like work, and I can't bring myself to finish it.

Absolutely love this game. It's perhaps the only game I've purchased on different platforms simply because I've wanted to share it with everyone. It's a fantastic party game: fun for all ages, easy to learn, challenging to master.

TL;DR: The level design and score balancing are far better in this DLC than in the base game.

Compared to its predecessor, I was pretty disappointed with Overcooked! 2. I found that it was too easy to achieve 3 stars in most levels (even after clearly suboptimal first tries). The original game scaled its star requirements to the number of players, but that mechanic seemed to be completely absent in the second. Then, the developers decided to poll the community for scores to add a new game +, and of course those score requirements were ridiculous and frankly impossible with any less than 4 players. Completely turned me off to the game.

Surf 'n' Turf brings back those finely tuned star requirements. 3 stars feels like a challenge again. The strategy and focus; the mad rush for efficiency. Really enjoying my time with this one.

Girlfriend and I have been playing this game for hours straight. It's addicting. May seem easy at first, but gets much more difficult as you progress. Doesn't have the same problems as many management simulators do. Stays fresh with well paced unlocks, simple customization scheme, and yet lots of variation in strategy and placement.

Sometimes, pathing breaks and you have to rearrange or re-place items to get things working again. It's got some bugs.

The game just looks and feels really good.
Techland really improved on all the elements from Dead Island from crafting to combat. The parkour is smooth and satisfying. Yes, it did remind me of Mirror's Edge. It's a nice experience running past crowds of zombies and jumping across rooftops especially at night. Playing through the campaign either solo or cooperatively just works. The added coop challenges were a good idea. You should get it once you and perhaps a friend find a price that's within your budget. Sitting at 24 hours, and I still haven't finished the main campaign. I am personally hoping they add more content in the near future.

The Be The Zombie mode and getting invaded is actually a little obnoxious.
You'll find that being the hunter, especially at early levels, is excruciating. There is a leveling system, and it's nearly impossible to win until you've at least unlocked a few of your skills. Otherwise, you will be hunted down and killed by survivors that know what they're doing. It won't feel balanced.
Joining a game on its own is frustrating as you'll constantly find yourself unable to connect or dropped before the round starts. And this because hunters are frequently attempting to invade the same instance. Most of the time you'll be overrided by another hunter joining the same game. Other times, the player will simply drop out because they don't want to play that mode. And as a survivor, leaving the option for invasions on is a disaster. As soon as there's a chance, you will get invaded. And it'll happen over and over until you turn it off. I imagine that's not what the developers had in mind, but at the moment the zombie mode is oversaturated while most players are content to play the game sans invasions.
Despite these issues with Be The Zombie, once you find a game after gaining some experience, it's pretty challenging for either side, and it's quite fun if you're looking to play it.

This game actually turned out to be a lot of fun! It gets really challenging as you push forward. Best played with a buddy or three.
