Meme about spreading the game based on meta knowledge from playing it aside... not sure what everyone sees in this game. It was fun, don't get me wrong, but for the price, the game length, and the very easy to nail down playstyle, you can finish the entire game and all it has to offer VERY quickly. I made a full playthrough in 2.3 hours... Even looked at all the "extras" in that time as well. Maybe at $5-7~ I could recommend, but DEFINITELY not worth anywhere close to $25.

A absolute masterpiece of the old 90s shooter genre (AKA Serious Sam, Painkiller, Duke Nuke'em). Music is great, visuals are awesome since they recapture the era this type of game was made in, and the gameplay is amazingly fun. There is enough story to keep you interested, but not enough to be distracting from the exceptional gameplay. Playable slow and steady or able to be played like a speedrunner's dream. I loved the jumping/movement system in this game. Following the genre it was built for, the game has bunnyhopping, momentum, and the movement itself is smooth and fluid. Now to the 3 things I disliked, or could have been done better about this game, keeping in mind that none of the 3 of these "greivances" even slightly made me consider not recommending this game, just some flaws to be shared so you know what you are buying. #1: My playtime is me playing the entire game on the 2 star difficulty slow and steady, and then going back and basically speedrunning the 3 star difficulty of the entire game. So thusly the game is quite short. Though at $15 full price, nevermind a sale on this game, it was more than enough to satisfy my purchase. #2: The game could of used a gamma setting inside of the options. I had to use a third party program to change my gamma (I.E. Nvidia Graphics Settings, Gamma Panel, etc.) which was slightly inconveniencing, but not a game changer, for sure. and lastly #3: The game had slight fit and finish issues with clear holes in certain walls, floors, ceiliings, etc. that allowed you to see outside of the play area. Now keep in mind I never saw (save for literally a single spot, and I was able to wiggle myself out of it) a place where these holes allowed you to exit the level either to look at the level from underneath or outside of it, or to accidentally get stuck or die. Along a similar line, there is no glaring issues with level design that can be easily exploited to gain an advantage over the enemy or to circumvent parts of a level, save for ONE level, which I will not say here, as to not spread it's usage to others so that they may ruin the experience for themselves by using it. There is one last thing I want to say, there is a extra secret which I have been unable to unlock as of yet, having played the game basically 2 times through. I was slightly disappointed that I could not find whatever/wherever the secret was (which is all I'll say about it as to avoid giving away unnecessary details about the game that could spoil something) but am certain that I will find it eventually.

Definitely not Left 4 Dead (2), but not as bad as everyone says it is. Not worth $40, wait for a sale, or get it in a bundle (like I did). Interesting deck system makes replaying levels/campaign missions actually kind of fun and experimenting with decks can be exciting.

Edit: I now don't recommend this game. The latest update (June 7th 2022) has completely ruined this game and it's whole flow. They made one difficulty's gameplay mechanic apply to EVERY difficulty without any way to toggle between, completely shifting the game to a new state which is not very fun. Also rest in peace Melee builds on any difficulty that isn't Recruit (where any old stupid garbage build works).

Mostly Negative reviews for this game are about release, this game is completely different from release. A lot of the bugs and small little things that were missing are no longer missing. The only downside to this game is that the only modes being played are the main Conquest and Breakthrough modes. Portal modes and Hazard Zone are 100% dead. Take this for what you will, but I like in it's current state, reminds me of the good old days of Battlefield with a few improvements to previous that made me pretty happy.

This game is insanely fun and covers all the bases for the roguelite genre. It's hard, but easy/not very punishing all at the same time, if that is really possible. The gameplay is very engaging, reminds me of some of my most favorite top down rpg style games like Alien Shooter, Alien Impact, and Shadowgrounds. Absolutely recommend this to fans of the rougelite and top down shooter genres!

An absolute masterpiece, and a master class on VNs. You must play this game. It's a must. If I could give it more positive reviews/thumbs up, I would. This is a hidden gem and its completely free! Which is absolutely flabbergasting considering how good it is. A rollercoaster of emotions, that takes hold and doesn't let go until the credits roll. Don't believe me? Play it for yourself.

Not a game for everyone, but is great for those who love card games, RNG, and strategy.
