Whoever did the graphic design of this game really did a great job. Instead of introducing another bombastic CGI terror they decided to use comic graphics that work really well. Sound and music is nice as well. Story is cute, but nothing exceptional.

Having played XCom up and down, I have the same issue here that I have with XCom Chimera Squad which is very similar. The small maps do not really leave many tactical options. The missions are very straightforward run and gun with no options to destroy walls or buildings or flank the enemies. Sometimes bullet behavior is strange. A miss following a 100% hit chance is something that can happen and sometimes enemies miss a short while standing in the back of their opponent.

I struggle a bit to give it a thumbs up. The gameplay could be more dynamic, also the game is really short. Something between 15-20 hours to cover absolutely everything including the DLC is not a lot. Since I bought it on a sale, I will give it a thumbs up. Mostly actually because I want to support the nice art design of the game.

Having played XCOM, Jagged Alliance and most similar games of course I like this game. It is quite similar and easy to understand. Storywise clicking through the dialogues is boring as most are like "gogogo!" or "noooo!". Nothing worth reading or listening to so far. Setting and character depth did not catch me as well, but to be fair it is just a prologue. I would rate this once I see the final game.

Gameplay is very nice, although playing defensively is a bit too powerful. Cover is a bit too weak and rockets are way to strong. Melee attacks at this stage are too weak and not relevant. Soldier's skill is probably also needed. However nothing that can't be fixed until the final release.
Enemies will not come towards you. So you have to get them out of their holes one by one. In the final mission looking for the last mech, I had to walk the map tile by tile to find him in a corner forest. Not something I would like to do regularly.

Not sure how they will manage the restocking of ammo, repairs and dying warriors in the final game. Right now it seems to offer little flexibility and appears cumbersome, but again I would wait for the released game to judge this.

The gameplay is a tactical game similar to games like X-Com or Jagged Alliance but does not contain the same level of micro management. Playing missions is clearly the main task for the player. Tactically it offers a lot of options and if one does not work out you can always try from a different angle. That is really beneficial for any players with a low frustration level.
Even though different classes exist they are very individual. So far the game has not forced me to play a certain set of characters to finish a mission. I chose whomever I liked best. The dialogues are witty and the audio in general is astonishing. I am not sure when I have encountered such a devoted atmosphere in a game lately. The visuals complement this impression.
On the negative side I find the controls sometimes a bit counterintuitive, but not on a level that you cannot get used to it. The doomsday clock is unnecessary and simply reduces fun. Also saving and loading could be a bit quicker, but since the game is much more tolerant against characters getting a hit here and there, it does not matter so much.
Overall I can recommend this game without restrictions.

I would say nice but could have been better. Here and there I found some funny dialogues and also hefty battles. However I have two major issues with the game after playing it for some 20 hours.

One of them is micro management. The looted items are scattered around the map, your squads inventory is not really big and you will have to hire cheap mercenaries just to gather items at a specific base. Same applies to quests and their items. Impossible to scout the map, play some quests on the side and have some fun with the battles. You either finish one quest in one shot or you will have more running back and forth.

The second issue is the AI. Enemies normally charge heedlessly into battle just trying to do as much damage as possible. They do not care dying in the open field afterwards. Battles therefore tend to get boring. You do as many stealth kills as possible until the battle starts and then you have to kill them one by one with headshots. So save & reload until your mercenaries are reasonably experienced. Also pistols or machine pistols have very little use, just use rifles. Ranges of most other weapons are too low and you do not want to end up in close combat because of the issue described above.

Well, I think it is nostalgia that still makes me recommend the game, however wait for sale.

Don't start! You cannot stop. Crazy how such a simple idea can work out so well. There is a lot of stuff missing and I hope the developer does not get a burnout with all those players demanding updates. There is not much to say about the game, it is a supermarket simulator and at this stage you can buy / sell goods, play the cashier, procurement and stockist.

I played Baldur's Gate I/II and a lot of similiar games. Baldur's Gate III seems to be the best of them. Graphics are great, music and sound effects also. So far (beginning of act 2) the story constantly evolves and does not get boring. Even without a romance the companions are quite interesting to talk to. Very nice character design.
The dialogues hit the sweet point between being detailed and not being too long. I appreciate that a developer dares to ignore the prudery of Facebook / Apple / etc. and includes some steamy romances. As far as I have seen, I would rate it between mild and moderate. Fits and supports the story line, but nothing too explicit. I can fully recommend this game.

I only have some things for which I would not give BG3 a 10/10 score.
- The main character does not have a voice, therefore "dialogues" are a bit awkward. Maybe allow less voices to choose, but have the dialogues fully synchronised.
- The animations are a bit bumpy and the characters appear quite stiff when moving. Taking into account the efforts that seem to have gone into the graphic detail, this is a bit sad. A kissing scene appears a bit like a Barbie & Ken dolls kiss (just rubbing the faces against each other).
- Timing in most dialogues is not very accurate and needs improvement. When acting surprised the main character kepts that expression for seconds though it should normally be only the blink of an eye.
- It would be a nice gesture to take off the helmet before kissing or drinking.

I played Shadow Tactics and Desperados and really liked them. But Shadow Gambit is just too easy. The character skills are broken. It does not really matter whom you choose as they are all similarly overpowered. The game is a run-through and the biggest challenge is to overcome the resistance to replay maps you already visited. The gameplay on the ship is the worst. Killing time by running around.

Also character depth in Shadow Tactics was really nice and okay in Desperados. Here it is a desaster. The characters in Shadow Gambit are extremly shallow. They mostly distinguish themselves by covering every possible ethnic group, but characterwise there is nothing. I quickly started skipping the dialogues. @ChatGPT: Please create a storyboard being 100% politically correct and with the sense of humor of a stamp collection.

While checking the Mimimi site during the past months for news, it never came to my mind that it would be possible to screw up so badly. I cannot believe this overall overwhelming positive feedback.

Well, I am a huge fan of Monkey Island I-III and played them many years ago and still like them a lot. I understand that a lot of people have a problem with the character design and I do not like it as well. However this is not the main reason for my negative review. What I really struggle with is the story telling.
I don't like the father telling his son the story. I cannot say what it is, but just replaying the story he tells is not what I like to do. I understand that they had to do this in order to fix this really awkward ending of the second part, but I would have rather considered it a dream or ignored it.
The other reason is that the UI has been severely cut down only allowing the right choices. You cannot do weird stuff anymore resulting in funny comments from Guybrush. You can only do "the right thing".
Last thing is the resuing of all the known locations. I am currently in the second part and it just feels like the remastered special edition. That is really really sad.
Well there are still two chapters ahead to prove me wrong. If the do, I will edit this comment.

Anyway it does not matter. If you liked Monkey Island, there is no way stopping you from buying this :)

Luckily I got this game on sale. There are quite a few positive aspects, but honestly the negative ones outweigh them by far.

The implementation of the AD&D rules went quite well. You have a lot of options to build up your main character. However without a gamemaster there is a tendency to min/max your char as some classes are just available to be used for one level/one specific skill. However that is up to you. Battlewise the game is not that hard on normal mode. Portraits are trash, but at least for the main character they can be changed. For the companions you need to download a mod. Voices? Just turn them off, you will not miss anything.

Coming to the NPCs. In order to get a tic in the box, there are romances and background quests. However I am not sure if they have been developed by humans or bots. They are horrible. The same applies to the personality of your companions. Especially the female ones. At best it can be said that they are shallow.

Now there are two extremly negative aspects of the game:
1. The is an always present time limit. Though there is an option to prevent your kingdom from being destroyed, but I have not used it so far. Still you here and there have quests which you will just loose after a certain time has passed or you will not be able to enter a certain region later in the game, preventing you from completing an artifact.
2. By making choices you mostly do not give your plot a direction, there are mostly good and bad decisions. The latter ones closing opportunities. This results in a lot of loading and saving. Sadly this is even a developers tip. The story is so linear that even in situations where it would easily be possible to allow decisions, it is not possible. Example: "Tell me your name!" "I won't (because you know about the negative drawback)!", your companions blatter it out. Such cases happen quite often and it really kills replayability.

Now comes the well advertised kingdom management. Mostly annoying. A guide decribes it very nicely as "the rich get richer and the poor get worse". There is one way to go for your kingdom. Don't waste your time in being creative or trying to go for RPG decisions. Just do what the guides say.
It is extremly linear and easy to manage. The only struggle is the time limit. Simple for the developers as they don't have to think about a smarter and more motivating ways to slow down your kingdom progress.

During the game you waste your time (time limit) travelling back and forth on the landscape to solve some quests. You cannot manage your kingdom properly from aroad therefore go with guides and savegames and and expect to reload often. There is no intention from the developers that you spend time in a certain area or wander around. You need to squeeze everything in the time limit, else you loose. Alternatively download a mod for this purpose.

Don't get me wrong. The time limit does not raise the difficulty to a problem. It just avoids that you can do all you want to do. In a certain way it guarantees "replayability". You simply skip certain things because you run out of time.

Last but not least, bugs. Some doors just won't open, but luckily there is a glitch where you can dimension door through them. Sometimes items on the map are not available, etc. This is not necessary. At chapter 4 I have 5 quests failed because of bugs (some of them just remain open). No way to fix them. One of them is a companion quest.

This is all very, very sad, because the game as such has great potential.

Nice little missions, but like all Battletech DLCs it is not worth the money. If you get it for a very low price, go for it as it will entertain you for a while.
I do not understand why the developers do not release a full new campaign with a deep story line, real choices to make, etc. It would not be too difficult to implement and it would definitively be worth it.

I bought the entire Mercenary Collection and it is a rip off. I suggest replaying X-COM before spending money here.
