Well what is there to say about Far Cry 5.

Solid gameplay, standard fair. Far Cry always felt a bit like the testing ground for new stuff that later is used in other big titel. This time there was not really something new gameplay wise.

The visual are stunning and well done, for my taste bit on the bright side of things though. The NPC have the right amount of depth for this kind of game, voicing sounds good. MC/Player is not voiced but makes sense if you consider the „story“ of the game.

You have a good selection of guns/bow, explosive and melee tools at your disposal, a lot of ground vehicle for your choosing and a fair selection for air and sea too.

Music is well selected and enjoyable. Problem is once again there is no way to adjust sound/music/voice of characters separately, that is often the case with a game that is made with focus on console systems.

Based on this i would say, value is about 20 bucks
With the expansions 30 to 35 bucks.

!!! BUT !!!

Based on the „story“ this changes a lot. The story is railroaded you get abducted several times in the game no matter where you are, if you have companions with you or a bunch of the resistance is around you.

You get brainwashed, everything is your fault and no matter what you do there is no beating the antagonist. I get the impression the „developers“ „authors“ tried to spin something like, Pearsey and Williams tried already to sell with Spec Ops The Line. Basically all player that finish the game are really bad people and should be ashamed of them self.

That it is our choice to finish the game, we could stop at any point, well i would accept that if i could get my money back, if i decide after 4 hours i do not want to play this game anymore because i find it distasteful or the things i have to do to progress the story are against my moral code, yeah right... getting money back from a publisher for that reason... somebody check for flying pig’s.

The story left me unsatisfied, and i resent the implications that are made with it. You can spin it how ever you want, you do not have real freedom of choice ever as a player.

Based on this, actual worth of the game -20 bucks.
Even for free or as gift, is it not worth to play it.
You should get paid to play it.

*** Last Far Cry for me ***
We can influence the market with only one thing, our money.
Do not pre order, do not join early access.

ADDENDUM
After i mulled it over some more, this might actually be worse then i first thought.
If i take Vaas from Far Cry 3 and his definition of insanity, Pagan Min‘s meticulous use of words, in consideration. This starts to look like the people behind Far Cry think the players are m***** and that we pay them to tell us that.
Worst part is, it is working.

I vowed to not buy Ubisoft products again quit a while back, and i kept that vow till freaking AC:Origins. Should have kept it even then.

Well played Ubisoft, well played.
