Early Access Review
First of all, the game performance is pretty bad as of now. The game definitely looks like it should run fine on a Steam Deck but it's abysmal (single-digit FPS), so unless you have a fairly powerful machine - skip it for now. On my 13650HX/4080 laptop, the game is playable on high running around 60 FPS.

I really enjoyed my initial couple of hours in the game - it's super cozy with a slight dark vibe and you get the option to be evil or helpful to others very early on (although I don't know what the ramification of that is). It's fun exploring and the building feels alright. I am looking forward to exploring the world more and expanding the walking house. I will be updating this review as I do so.

Pretty cool story, art style and overall 80s feel.

In terms of gameplay, this is my favorite multiplayer FPS of all time. But EA's endless greed is driving this great game into the ground, so I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Purchased the DLC 5 hours ago - still haven't received anything in game.

Edit: I finally got the unlocks over 12 hours after making the purchase. Still, I would not recommend buying this DLC here - you might still not get it instantly and I haven't even tried the missions yet. I also don't expect this to be of great value, I just want to play the missions with some friends.

The game runs at about 30 FPS on a 2080 Ti, sh*ts itself if you open any kind of overlay and mouse movement practically doesn't work.

A Great Ending to a Great Series

After a very disappointing (to me) 3rd season, The Final Season delivers a perfect continuation to Clementine and AJ's story. Although you play as Clementine again, the main focus of the story is on little AJ - him growing up, his relationship with Clementine, her influence on him and what kind of a person he will become. Shortly after the start of the game, both Clem and AJ wound up at Ericson's Boarding School and meet most of this season's characters - the 'troubled' kids who were abandoned there and had been surviving alone ever since the world went to ♥♥♥♥. It's up to Clem and AJ to build up their relationships with the kids at Ericson's and turn that place into the home they've always longed for.

The story of the game is great and fits very well into the entire Clementine tale. Most characters are well developed and react adequately to your words and actions. As always, the choices you make will not really alter the story but will often determine which characters will live to see the end of the story, and which ones will not. Depending on your choices, entire segments of the game will be different. A good/bad thing is that you have different interactions and different missable achievements in those segments, which adds replay value and content, but you can't get all achievements in a single playthrough and if you want to just experience the 'extra' scenes and content, functionality to skip lines and scenes would have been great.

The Final Season's gameplay introduces a few good changes - actual action elements like freely aiming and shooting a bow, aiming and catching fish with a spear, running around an area and fighting walkers with a knife. Those are a great addition, making interactions a lot more fun than just a bunch of easy and boring QTEs. Although these could use some polish - certain mechanics didn't feel good, some poorly placed invisible walls could be annoying, I like the way Telltale's adventures are going and I'd be happy to see more of this in their future games.

Performance is where this game really drops the ball. If you're playing this game on a computer that can easily get over 60 FPS, you HAVE TO limit your framerate to 60 or the game will be a very unpleasant stuttery mess. That wouldn't be such an issue if there was an FPS limiter inside the game but there isn't. I used Nvidia's control panel to limit but not everyone has access to that and it shouldn't be a requirement to make the game playable. Even with that, I would sometimes have the game stutter and in general it didn't feel even close to the smooth experience of a game like Life is Strange 2 (which came out during the same year).

Except for the lack of an FPS limiter and certain drops in performance, The Final Season offers a great story and delivers it better than any previous entry in the series. It's a must play game for everyone who enjoys Interactive Drama games and a great ending to the Clementine saga.

This is not really a "game". It is a playable version of the Devolver Direct Expo in the spooky setting of a closed expo center. It's an absolutely amazing way to experience the trailers and get hyped for some games. I recommend playing this even if you've seen all the trailers as all the booths are great.

It doesn't run too great - FPS seemed to be high for me with everything maxed out but I feel like it stuttered at times. I feel like an "expo" should be easily available to everyone and I don't know how this would run on low spec machines.

Overall, it's amazing and fairly well done - there are collectibles teasing more games, some cheeky achievements, pretty simple "puzzles" and even a boss fight in the end. They've added some cool mechanics like shooting the shirt gun at mannequins putting a shirt on them. Literally everyone interested in gaming and Devolver's work should play this and I hope to see more similar products when companies are announcing their new game lineups. After all - what is a better way to present your games to people than an actual game?

The art of this game is beautiful and the sound was great but, as much as I would love to recommend supporting the developers towards the full game, everything else about the game is mediocre at best.

Mechanics
Having to hold your cursor at the edge of the screen to scroll the environment it was hard not to notice that the game doesn't lock your cursor to one monitor. Backing out from focusing an item inside a focused area requires you to click out of the entire focused area. It wasn't very intuitive and a back button would probably be better. The inventory at the bottom of the screen was covering up some items. I think it would be better if it retracted into the bottom of the screen, when out of focus.

Gameplay
You don't control a character that moves around with your clicks, so you're basically just scrolling and clicking a (mostly) still image. The puzzles in this "demo" were extremely simple, maybe this is just a starting point and they will ramp up in the full game. Still, I would've liked to see something more engaging, so I could expect more from the rest of the story. The length of the prologue is also a bit worrying - with a 10 minute preview, I wouldn't expect more than a couple hours from the full game. That is absolutely fine but only if it's paired with an adequate price tag.

Overall, the great art and the promising story make this an interesting project. I definitely recommend playing the prologue if you're interested into artsy point & click adventures...or you have 10 minutes to spare? It's basically nothing. However, supporting the developers and purchasing the full game feels questionable at this point. With some (potentially simple) improvements and a decent price/length ratio I can see the game being a decent buy for point & click adventure fans.

At this point, this game is absolutely unplayable for most people. I tried the shooting range and it seems fun, but I didn't manage to get into a game for 30 minutes on any server, even with the "reload menu method". I recommend waiting until that is fixed to try the game. Right now, I recommend staying away, unless you feel like wasting your time on a Reload Menu simulator.
