If you like getting kicked in the nuts while you're on top of your high horse, this is for you!

Arc Raiders teaches you two important things. First, the robots want you gone. Second, the other raiders want you gone faster. You load in feeling brave. Ten minutes later you are fighting for your life against a group of players who seem to have memorized every rock and bush on the map. You finally scrape out a win and celebrate for half a second before a wandering robot swings in like a junkyard pinata and deletes you from existence.

The world feels alive. The music makes every run sound heroic. The problem is that nothing in this game respects your confidence. You find the last part you need for your workbench upgrade. You clutch it to your chest like a newborn. You head to extract. Then you discover someone built a small retirement community around the extraction point and they are all very excited to ruin your night. One burst later your loot hits the dirt and your soul leaves your body.

Combat feels great when you are on top. You pick off a squad. You flank another. You feel unstoppable. Then a robot that looks like a microwave with thrusters taps you once and you drop like a sack of laundry.

Still, the loop is fun. The tension keeps you moving. The highs feel huge, the lows detrimental. Every run holds the promise that maybe this time the stars will align and nothing will punch you in the face. The guns feel good. The world is unpredictable. The chaos works.

Verdict: 8.5/10. Will lose precious loot to raiders, robots and my own bad decisions again.

This is the game you will hate to love. You will have the best day in gaming as well as the worst, all within 5 minutes. Very wholesome, not toxic whatsoever.

The best worst time you'll every have. You'll make friends, lose friends and ruin all your IRL relationships all in one package. 10/10 would recommend.
