I played this game alot before buying it on steam. It sucked me right in and it's one of few games I've played through from start to finish more than once. I really recommend it. Interesting story, interesting characters and generally interesting world. The only negative is some bugs and.. the ending. They fixed the ending in the expansion though, so I guess it's OK. I was so mad when I finished the game the first time. All in all, a very good game though.

Early Access Review
EDIT: And surprise! The game just left Early Access and will stay in a broken, unfinished limbo forever it seems. Looks like my suspicions were correct back then. Remember what they said in July of last year? "Do not worry, Medieval Engineers is not abandoned; there are still plans for Medieval Engineers, and in the near future Keen Software House will continue to work on the game." Well, that quote sure aged like milk.

Original review from last year:
Abandoned. The game's project lead has left Keen. The Medieval Engineers team has merged with the Space Engineers team. The game is still garbage - perhaps even more so than it used to be when it first launched in Early Access. At least I had fun back then. It relies a lot on physics - building draw bridges, portcullis, siege engines etc. The problem is that the physics are ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Nothing seems to function as you'd expect it to. Things break for no apparent reason. Things attached to ropes will often flip out - sometimes leaving your castle with tons of broken walls and roofs etc. With this - along with the fact that there's no longer a team working to fix all these issues - in mind, there is no chance I can give this game a recommendation.

Early Access Review
I should've listened to the top reviews and saved my money for some other game. I found out about this game in the early days of development, then forgot about it. Now, today, I found it again and though I'd give it a try - despite the negative reviews. After roughly 2 hours playing, I understand them. At first it worked fine. But the longer I played, the less my Bricktons responded to my commands. At the end, just before I quit, my minions refused to dig a dunnel, despite the pleasant words I gave them and the smooth jazz I played for them. Also, the stockpiles I built before I quit were invisible, and I couldn't manually put stuff in them.

I'm sorry, devs, but I cannot recommend this game.

Early Access Review
I retried this game yesterday, almost a year after reviewing it first. It feels like the handling has been improved since, cause driving felt pretty solid right now. I can't remember how flying was before, but it was pretty easy to learn now. I usually suck at flying things in other games, but in this one it wasn't too hard. Spawning vehicles are also easier now, it seems, cause I had no problems doing it this time around. The controls and the UI is still pretty confusing at first, but that's not a huge deal.

Those were the main flaws I disliked when I first reviewed it. Since they seemingly have been fixed, I'm gonna recommend this. At least if you enjoy games where you get to be really creative and build whatever kind of vehicle you want.
