Ok, so after coming back from 2018, there is WAY more content in this game than there was originally, and is a massive improvement over what the game initially was, especially when compared to it at launch. It feels like Fallout 4 with all of the mods everyone wanted.

HOWEVER: this game is only worth $9 on sale.

YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR INVENTORY SPACE. This is the single stupidest decision I have ever seen in this game series. Your inventory space is artificially shrunk to get you to buy more, literally infinite, space. Items were added for various crafting mechanics, but they added so much and artificially increased the amount of materials so far that you almost need to pay for the infinite inventory space, or you just aren't going to be able to craft anything. I guess that was too much of an ask for a Fallout game that's done it many times before. And don't tell me it's a "resource issue" for servers, because they literally are offering infinite space to stash stuff as a paid option.

IT IS STILL PAY TO WIN. You're now joining the game with people who are level 600+, so good luck getting a shot in quicker than they can with their AOE cannon bought straight from the Store. I'm sitting in events afk because I can't get a shot in, and they encourage it. It's the most mind numbing gameplay I've seen in a while - And this is what they call "balanced gameplay"? But hey, you can buy the weapons from the store too! and they work in pvp.

THERE ARE LIMITS ON EVERYTHING. Selling items? There is a GLOBAL cap limit for ALL vendors - every vendor shares the same amount of caps, and when one runs out, they all do. And this goes for every currency in the game. Vendors sold out? might as well stop playing because you aren't making any money, your inventory space is limited, and you can't carry or store anymore. Dumbest decision I've seen in any game; "let's encourage the player to stop playing by overloading their inventory and stop them from earning rewards."

BUY OR YOU'LL MISS OUT!!! The game also heavily relies on FOMO. They rotate shop items every week, and from what I've seen, doesn't bring them back regularly. Apparently they also used to have a board game mechanic for "seasonal" events, which is now gone. I guess having a fun mechanic in the game with rewarding items was too much? Now it's just "level up, collect items from a list, repeat." - they really know how to make it monotonous.

THEY HAVE FOUND A WAY TO MONETIZE LITERALLY EVERY ITEM IN THE GAME.
It sucks that I'm not joking about any of this.

You pay for inventory space.
You pay for weapons.
You pay for armor.
You pay for resources.
You pay for TEMPORARY carry weight.
You pay for TEMPORARY buffs.
You pay for literally junk items.

And that's before getting into the skins that were straight ripped from people modding, and from what I've seen, without any credit given.

THE GAME HAS BROKEN MECHANICS EVERYWHERE. This game comes with all the bugs of previous fallout games as well, this far into it's release - except now you cant get mods to fix it - and we know they aren't paying developers to fix it, skins and cosmetics are just too profitable.

The conclusion:

This game still reeks of being an EXTREMELY LAZY PAY-TO-WIN MONEY GRAB, poor planning, and poor mission design, but it is currently only $9 - and only $9 is actually worth it due to the game being Fallout at it's core - at least until you get frustrated with having to pay for parts of the game just to make it enjoyable.
